It was good, but honestly we dominated them and he got clear looks at most everything. I could argue that the first period tonight mb29 had more difficult action than VTEC had in the Avs game. Clear clean breakaway by Ovi and going post to post on tap in were tougher than what the Avs threw at him.

Tbh, neither has stood on their head.

Demkos game tonight (2nd period onward)was better than anything either of them did, and it started out fairly raunchy.

What if Evan Rodriguez scored on the breakaway in the 3rd period after Marino misread the play? Vtec saved that goal -- do we really want to think about a tie Devils game late in the 3rd?

I don't trust Blackwood and frankly was done with him during the unvaccinated drama. Cannot wait for Bernier to be ready and challenge for 1b

Missed this game too. I was intending to stay up for at least the first two periods, but had a tough day and got tired early.

I'm pleased to see the score, and more domination in shots after a slow start in the first period. Pretty cool that our top guys are scoring, with Bratt's streak continuing and Hughes still getting his points, while Nico is beasting at both ends. But it looks like the secondary scoring came through last night too, and you need that on nights when not everything is clicking.

Very exciting team this year, and an incredible turnaround from a rocky start.

So basically we got win #7 around Thanksgiving last year? That's just sad.

No we had more than 7 wins in 24 games, but two were OT and one was SO. So 10 wins in 24 games, which isn’t much better actually.

Even during our “strong” start only 2 of our first 5 wins were in regulation. That wasn’t a good sign.

I kinda want to see some OT against Edmonton. Hughes/Bratt vs McDavid would be electric.

And complete radio silence from a certain segment of the fanbase.

I don’t even know how I’ll respond if we have a loss and the usual group shows up to complain.

For the life of me I can’t figure out why some people only want to come here for losses and have no interest during this winning streak.

I honestly needed to step away during the first two losses, I just didn’t need the board’s rage on top of my frustration.

Yes this was a big debate pre-game.

Myself, Bleed, and others were stunned that Blackwood and not Vitek was starting.

The belief was that Blackwood would start one of the Calgary games during our home and home with them and if he played well and we somehow beat them, that's just a bonus but he was more or less going to be the sacrificial lamb to give Vitek a day off.

Lindy throwing him out there in a game that the Devils had to win to at least not go 0-4 on this trip was a complete stunner and a good number here were not happy about it.

I'm still not happy about the Decision even now.

Happy about the win but the Decision still sucked.

Prior to last night Blackwood was 4-0 vs. Vancouver. He's now 5-0, with 2 shutouts. A 0.98 GAA and .962 save %. Those latter stats were higher prior to Horvat potting 2 goals last night.

Plus it was an out of conference game. VV can't play 'em all. You need Blackwood to come in and provide quality starts.

Kind of a messy game/win in my opinion. Slow sloppy start, travel and time difference definitely a factor. I think the Canucks played good offensively, but just had few defensive mistakes and not enough puck luck. I thought Graves had a rough game, whoever is suggesting that he's been great because of his +-, needs to realize he's playing with Marino who has been looking like a top dman in the whole league. Severson and Smith were also a bit iffy, with Smith taking his mandatory penalty that got the Canucks back in the game. MBW was good again, I think he's at his best when he doesn't play too often. Haula was pretty invisible, his presence and faceoffs are certainly a plus, but he needs to do more offensively. Boqvist is also starting to get into the groove and that line is finding some chemistry. Very valuable win, tough games ahead that will gauge the true level of this team.

Vancouver has talent but isn’t a good team, with their terrible defense being a big factor. We’ve been there very recently and it’s a frustrating place to be. It’s nice to stop being that too.

Haula has 26 shots on goal, he’s due and will start scoring at some point. I’m not particularly worried about him.

The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him, "What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?"

"Pick me up and throw me into the sea," he replied, "and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you." Instead, the men did their best to row back to land. But they could not, for the sea grew even wilder than before. Then they cried to the LORD, "O LORD, please do not let us die for taking this man's life. Do not hold us accountable for killing an innocent man, for you, O LORD, have done as you pleased." Then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm.

Look, if you are going to do ocean metaphors at least use the right one.....

Let’s not get out of control with the Blackwood love fest because he had a good game. That could really get us in trouble at some point.

Vitek should still be the starter.

But you know Blackwood is almost definitely playing next game.

No, I'm fairly confident Ruff will go back to Vanecek tomorrow night.

Made perfect sense to start Blackwood against the weakest opponent on this trip and a team he's had a lot of success against.

After Blackwood's post game interview, as well as Ruff's comments, both were talking like Blackwood probably would have played at least one other game since last Monday, but that he was ''Dealing'' with an ''Elbow'' injury which is what caused him to miss that practice last Thursday night. It didn't cause Blackwood to not dress a game, but the Colorado game was the very next night.

Now I'm wondering if he would have played the Colorado game if he hadn't had a sore elbow or whatever it was. After Vanecek shut out the Avs, they kind of had to play him against Columbus.

They're not looking at this in terms of starter/backup. They're doing 1A/1B. As such, I think it's 50/50 whether Blackwood is playing next game.

And I think that's wrong that they're looking at it that way.

Blackwood has been the inferior goalie this regular season, preseason and the last two seasons before this.

If he were on a rival, our fans would be giggling about how much of a bust he is, just like they were with Carter Hart.
