I don't know. They're pretty fast. They could be a playoff team in the next few years, but probably have at least another year or two to go. Then again, they could have some attainable success like the 2018 Devils. I just don't think it will be sustainable before a few more years.
And one other thing. Before the heater they were on there were a ton of questions about Marty St. Louis and his ability to be a successful head coach in the league. It even felt like he was on the hot seat at one point.
They'll always be handicapped in that area (self inflicted) because of their prerequisite of a French speaking head coach, and how many times can you bring back Julien, Therrien, Vigneault or Jacques Martin?

Hot take but any penalty on a breakaway should be a penalty shot regardless of scoring chance. Btw that shouldn’t have been a penalty shot currently.

the beginning of the 2nd period was dicey, but otherwise Montreal didn't really do much of anything.
also, a win is a win is a win. Doesn't matter how it looks at this point in the season.
You aren't wrong, and I posted a few similar thoughts during the game, but I will say that this team has lost plenty of games when they dominated and once in a while it's nice to steal one. Let's see how they look after the break. Hopefully Hischier is back and maybe a couple of guys nursing bumps and bruises get some needed rest and play better down the stretch.

Timo has been ass, awful contract for a 50 or so point player, yikes. It's worse with Haula and Mercer combined, 16 mil, ooooooof. The other three make peanuts, 3.125 mil.
