Palat has been ass for years. It wasn't just a tough period in life.

He's been a 3rd line caliber player here. He was straight up not an NHL player this season until a few weeks ago. It was a HUGE falloff

Before the Nashville game he had a 51% xG with Jack while even in goals. Away from Jack 32% and outscored 7 to 2.

Since then 62.5% and up 10-3 in goals. He's still been absolutely brutal away from Jack but it's also only 12 minutes so it's hard to put much stock into it.

He is still dragging down Jack a bit as Jack away from Palat in 43 minutes since the Nashville game Jack's up to 73%. It's not like he's dragging him down to just being 50/50 anymore though. If this is the level of play you get from this line going forward then Palat's "fine" for the time being as the compliment to Jack-Bratt

College was all Keystone Light which was a shame. Only a couple hours from Rochester, I could have been drinking genny creams instead. Guess the buck difference was meaningful shrug.

My brother went to school in Rochester and he said their go to was Labatt Blue. I guess the proximity to Canada brought the distribution price down.

Far better than our Keystone Light swill in Ithaca. Maybe the buckets of Rolling Rocks at Ruloff’s trivia night were passable.

I thought Rolling Rock was awful but to each their own. It was something of a premium offering once they came up with that "Bucket of Rocks" promotion.

This was a fun watch. Blues feed whining about Siegenthaler through all the 3rd period shenanigans. Kind of a shame that’s the final meeting of the season. Some real bad blood out there. Felt like the start of a rivalry.

Like how Siegenthaler’s “really dangerous hit/clear hit from behind” becomes a “more of a trip and a shove” after the replay when it’s none of those things.

I remember being very young and seeing Genesee signs all over Pennsylvania and New York.

My grandparents(fathers side)lived in north central Pennsylvania probably about 45 minutes from the New York border and those Genesee signs were everywhere. Gas stations, convenient stores, sides of barns everywhere.

I remember being 5/6 years old asking my dad what it was...I didn't even know it was beer...

Then I was 18 fishing in upstate NY and a place in Hancock NY had it on the shelf...I grabbed a 6 pack went to pay for it and the lady behind the counter goes are you 21? I said no I'm 18 but I always wanted to try this. She said ok....and a pack of Marlboros of course.

I went through a Brooklyn Lager phase. I still like it. It's just hard to find.

When the arena first opened in Newark there was a bar in the train station near the entrance that had Brooklyn Lager on tap. Seems I always had to wait 45 minutes for the next train home so I always spent that time in the bar with a Brooklyn....or three.

Old Monroe County boys will tell you Jenny Cream was alright, but plain Jenny was panther piss. That didn't and hasn't stopped a ton of Rochesterians and others within the distribution range from drinking Genesee for their entire lives. My father-in-law was one of them. True Jenny drinker to his death and he darnk a lot of it.to his death. The Genesee Brewing Co. is one of the oldest in the U.S.

Remember that a lot of Jack's time away from Palat, Hischier is going to be the 3rd forward on that line, and it makes more sense how much better things are without him. That said, I suspect Palat has gotten to the level of 'not a drag' now - I notice him killing fewer plays or being beaten in the neutral/d zone.

That's actually not the case. It's only 5 and a half minutes for Jack and Nico together since the Nashville game. 93% xG lol. There's still 37 and a half minutes of Jack without Palat or Nico and he's at 70% xG. Now over a longer sample I doubt that a 70% xG holds so yeah I doubt Palat's dragging him down that much now.

Palat is simply engaged more and not a step behind like he was, from the eye test. He looks competent out there again. Ideally we need better top 6 options but it hasn’t been a disaster for him lately like it was early on this season.

They’re clearly not taking him off that line at this point but I’d like to see him and Noesen flipped just to get a sense of how Palat looks on the 3rd line and without the safety blanket of Jack-Bratt. Get a sense of if you could even slide him down the lineup with a top 6 add or he’ll need to stay stapled there and babysat. I imagine he’d be fine but the numbers don’t currently paint the picture for him being fine.

Also, logically, the time where NJD is getting Jack out there without palat is basically always:

Jack already dancing around the ozone, palat changes first or NJD gets Jack Hughes on for an ozone faceoff/situation to try and create some offense

You experienced Central New York weather. That's why we are so happy to have hockey. The Nexus Center connected to the Aud has 4 rinks and has become home to some big sporting events, especially to me - hockey!
Women's World tournament last season.
Top notch national JR tournaments.
Men's and women's College hockey.

They just announced 2 US Jr teams at 2 age levels that will call Utica home next season.

They keep bringing in good sporting entertainment. It's good for the area. Hotels are packing em in. Restaurants are going strong. Both of those hospitality sources within walking distance of the Nexus Center/Utica Aud so you can leave your cars at the hotel lots. So far, you can also opt to drive over to the event with a huge free parking lot for the events or there is a parking garage across the street for $$.

National Bohemian, or Natty Boh, was the beer of choice in college in Baltimore. Feels like a lifetime ago since I've had one. But a major improvement over the Natty and Keystone Lights. Blech.
