THE GOOD NEWS: Devils have limited their opponents to 21 goals in the last 10 contests.

THE BAD NEWS: The Devils themselves have only managed to score 19 goals in those 10 games, which is a little under 2 goals a game.

We are a long time removed from the A-Line days when goals were aplenty.

Just make the playoffs. I don't even care who we play.

We're not missing the playoffs to the ****ing Isles. **** that.

The schedule is the same as it's been all season. It's not any harder or any easier.

We can play with any team in the East.

Exactly, and we should be happy we have games with the Rags, Leafs, Flyers, and Sens left. Those are huge opportunities to deny them points and get points at the same time. Gives us more control over our fate.

Didn't FMASC post our team CORSI a few days ago and we were in the top 8 or something? There's no reason for us to be where were at. We're so much better than this.

I guarantee we score like 15 goals next game. This team is going to be so ****ing pissed.

Good, I'd love to rip apart that pissant Reimer. Last time we played him at home we scored 3 goals on like 45 shots against him. He maybe made a couple challenging saves (One on Elias) and the rest were at his crest or from the point. Then of course he looked real bad in the shootout, but we all remember Marty was even worse in that shootout. He's one of the most beatable goalies we've played in a couple weeks other than Garon who we should have beat, and had the game won anyway.

Our Fenwick or something apparently is weak though. IDK I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to advanced hockey stats.

And yes **** missing the playoffs for the Isles. Though I will laugh a very hearty laugh if us and the Isles make the playoffs at the Flyers and Rags expense. That would be glorious. I just want a 1st round chance to ruin Pitt or Boston's season.

Our CORSI was pretty good under Maclean too (I remember fighting FMASC to the death on this one) I just don't think we have enough huge talent with Kovy out. We can outshoot every team like this, but not always win.

However Rask is a top 10 or maybe even top 5 goalie. No shame in outshooting him and getting the goose egg.

I think this loss would be a lot easier to swallow if Boston scored a real goal

We should still be scoring more garbage goals then we do. Obviously tonight we needed some big time skill because Rask was very much on and wasn't going to let a fluky in it seemed.

Also our D was ******** the bed against the two Florida teams and the fishsticks. We lost the two Florida games because we stopped playing D, not because we couldn't score.

My thoughts exactly. **** that team and the sympathy we're ''Supposed'' to show for them. I don't show any sympathy for teams we're battling for a playoff spot with.

You're right the 6 on 5 meltdown cost us those two games. Not to mention we actually scored 4 on the Lightning. Even though the penalty shot was a weak call, and Garon was horrible that game and let in at least 2 soft goals.

I wouldn't mind seeing the isles in the playoffs. Not instead of us of course, but it's always nice to see a new team instead of the typical 8. Plus islanders fans deserve it.

If I'm the penguins, I don't want to see the Islanders in the first round. The Islanders play them tough and their is alot of bad blood still lingering which goes back to that Rick Dipietro fiasco and later Trevor Gillies incident in 2011.

This is what I'm saying. Our defense has been good, but not good enough to make up for our offensive shortcomings. We really need some more offense. That's why I can't blame Moose for that stretch. He was awful, but was getting 1.83 goals of support per game if you take out the beatdown against the Flyers. You can't expect any goaltender to have a lower than 1.83 GAA. That's Hart Trophy caliber, and he would have needed a GAA lower than that for us to have a chance to win with how awful our offense was.

In the Church of Salmela
back to cerebral's point earlier, if zajac had a "prolific forward he can cycle with", who is available this summer that would suit us? who's UFA that fits our style?

If I am the Penguins I don't want any Atlantic team not named the Flyers. The greatest gift from the hockey gods for Pitt would be the Leafs somehow falling to 8th, or the Flyers sneaking into 8th. With the Flyers O lacking from last year Pitt would be them in the track meet joke of a series they would play. Even the new look Rags would give Pitt fits.

Without Martin and Letang their D is awful. I'm also laughing at how Fleury/Vokoun didn't exactly turn out to be as good as advertised. I'm not scared of them. I'm more scared of their offense, but our defense and Marty/Moose held them to just a goal two times. The one game earlier in Pittsburgh where we lost 5-1 wasn't our best game of the season. May have been one of the worst up until late February on out.

I wasn't that scared of them with those two, without them they have problems. Their breakout game suffers greatly without those two so even their offense has lost some bite.

I wonder if Danny Bylsma switches goalies in the playoffs like us with defense! Or does he pick one and roll with whoever's hot coming into the playoffs?

I just don't get out they didn't go out and get a big nasty defenseman that can block some shots and do the dirty work down low. Why were they so obsessed with adding more forwards.

I don't see MAF starting every game, and he will definitely get pulled in one or two.

Hopefully we get a shot at them come postseason. I sure as hell want it. Play the Leafs like we played Boston tonight and we will get back on the right foot on getting there. We should turn Reimer into the piece of swiss cheese he is.

It's kinda like how Tampa Bay is obsessed with going out and getting a goalie when they need better defensemen (Bishop will start getting shelled soon enough) Pittsburgh just keeps stockpiling forwards. Now that's offense might be able to make up for their defensive shortcomings. Or just maybe not!

I'm thinking 05-06 here. How sweet would it be to go on another 11 game winning streak to end the season? It likely won't happen, but if they don't get rattled and lose confidence because of this loss I can definitely see some wins comings.

11 games seems like much, but I always felt this group was capable of more then what we have seen during this bad stretch. Maybe nona is right and tonight was the moral victory kind of spark. 11 games isn't going to happen, but enough of a streak just to get in, get Kovy back, and maybe do some damage.

I hope Sullivan brings some new kind of wrinkle that can help, even strength or PP.

I was super angry about this game, but not at the team. What more could you really ask out of them in this game. Obviously all 40 of those shots were not good chances, but there was enough that SOMETHING should of bounced our way. I thought Greene had it, but Rask was on. We will blow Reimer up.

Just got done watching the game on DVR. Not really much to say other than they need to put the puck in the net. You'd think with all the shots they put on Rask that one would hit something and deflect in, but that's just not the way this season has gone. This team seems to play to the level of their competition, so I'm not sure what to expect Saturday.
