The Devils and Poker.

Okay then.

Don't care either way but if it brings in more revenue, so be it. :dunno:

The connection is more the State of New Jersey and online gambling - the Devils are beneficiaries of that association. One nice thing about this sponsorship is the team and the arena are partnering with one of the more prominent online poker compaines out there (bwin.com) which itself is linked to the Borgata (the best run outfit in Atlantic City).

This is great news from a business standpoint. Still waiting to see if new management can find another title sponsor for the former Verizon Tower (they should try to lure in Newark's newest major corporation Panasonic - would be a perfect fit with a consumer electronics display on the grand concourse where Verizon used to have their setup) and a naming rights partner for the Fire Lounge (Johnnie Walker Red Label perhaps). Good step in the right direction though on the business front.

Panasonic would be a natural fit for that tower.

For the Fire Lounge, be nice to hook up with an area liquor brand or brewery.

To engage in online gambling you have to be 21... much like drinking alcohol. No one seems to care that there's a beer sponsor. Enjoy your own hypocrisy, folks.

I'm just trying to go to a nice family environment and people are tossing beers and gambling chips at me. I need a new petition.

gambling

or

song by a pedophile

ah-huh.

/logic

It had nothing to do with the artist, it was the "you suck" chants they thought were offensive, as evidenced by the piped in "Lets Go Devils" during SNA.

THANK YOU, Afro.

Some people just keep on harping and harping and harping on this.....

And ignore the real reason which you stated.

As suspected this isn't that much about party poker .

This is about getting Bwin on our good side. They work with massive and only massive soccer clubs in Europe

Could bring In a lot of dough

I still don't see why the owners get 'all' the blame for the goal song fiasco when the organization tried to (and did) change it years ago when the beloved JVB was in charge before Harris and Blitzer ever heard of the Devils. It's not as if Lou hasn't been a stick in the mud about such things before - like frowning on the 'no blue' slogan during the 2012 Conference Finals.

yeah playing poker is one thing

changing our goal song/chant because its not a family friendly environment ...yet online gambling is?

I'm not sure what's so challenging about this: the new owners are trying to create a corporate friendly environment. Yes, they used "family friendly", but what they really mean is revenue friendly.

I'm not sure it's something that I as a fan like or will benefit from, but it's pretty clear to me as a business person why they'd want to do this.

btw - I think this also shows where the new owners' interests lie. All those looking for a Volch buy-out, I think we now see that everything will need to go through a P&L evaluation that's at least equal to the Win / Loss evaluation.
