I’m pretty happy Johnny decided to go to Columbus.

I’d much rather have Timo than him. Johnny is already about to turn 30 years old.

It’s pretty clear Fitz has been trying for something big on forward since last summer.

He was in on DeBrincat, Tkachuk and obviously Gaudreau.

unless Tundra wants Bratt to be gone.... :eek3:

Seriously though, I don't get why it's all of a sudden automatic that Bratt is history just 'cause we got Meier.

And through Fitz's OWN WORDS : "Jesper will be next"

I just don't get it.
I don't want Bratt gone. But I'm not sure he's an 8 million dollar player longterm. Management will have to make that decision.

So happy we dodged the johnny bullet.

I would've loved Tkachuk though.

Out of all of them I'd put them in this order based off personal preference...

Tkachuk
Meier
Debrincat
Gaudreau

So I'm 100% ok with not getting Gaudreau. Tkachuk would've been literally perfect but Meier is 95% perfect so whatev.

But Gaudreau went to Columbus to win hockey games! :sarcasm:

I hope it chafes him particularly hard to see the Devils contend for the Cup over the next 5 years while he has to make do being centered by Boone f****ing Jenner.

The fact that we kept Holtz is pretty amazing.
I wonder if the offer was for Grier to pick either, Muk or Holtz.

Maybe the pick conditioning was tougher on Muk?

On the other hand, we have a lot of great D prospects but not that many forwards. While Holtz is not perfect, he is still a flexibilty piece for our roster, the kind of ones we already have plenty at D.

But Meier.. man he brings flexibility to our top 9.

Guys like:
- Meier
- Palat
- Tatar
- Mercer
can be pretty nifilty juggled around the top 3 lines to see where's the chemistry happening on a give night. I think thats one of the best things about Meier, it improves our 3rd line a lot too.

Sorry but if we're going to go back to "No one can make more than Jack" nonsense, then forget it.

Meier is going to make more than Jack.

And if(or rather WHEN) he does, so will Bratt.

Those who lament that, will just have to deal with it.

Jack's contract should NOT determine how Fitz goes about his negotiations with Bratt.

It wont stop because those morons were asking for Nemec and we still have him.

But now we don't have the cap space for Anderson. We literally can't fit his bloated contract without making absurd moves.

Which of course won't stop them. They will simply ask us to throw Hischier into the deal as a cap dump.

Timo + Palat + Marino, pretty good in my book.

The funniest part of them in this whole Bedard thing is he'll probably ask to be traded to the Flyers once Bedard's ELC is up. No shot Johnny finishes that contract there, I've been on record saying it. Tons of Blue Jackets have been become Flyers late in their career and vice versa.
