Think of it this way; if we give up next year's first round pick, it means we beat the Rangers in the playoffs.

Maybe not.
Rags board completely melting down.

Hopes Meier will hold out next year, Bratt is a goner. Etc

They are back to us being broke with no fans. That's when you know we are a serious threat.

Wait til Timo goes to Wawa at 3am after a night of drinking and orders two sandwiches and chicken tenders while deep gazing into the Devils logo surrounded by all of his countrymen.... he'll sign an extension right at the kiosk at Wawa's.View attachment 657991

But now with Meier in the fold, the desperation to sign Bratt isn't primary. We can pivot if we want to.

I highly doubt that's the way Fitz is looking at it. He didn't go trade for Meier just to let Bratt walk or trade him.

That would be a lateral move, not a move building toward a Cup contender.

We want both here long term, and we'll get it.

Don't look now - Josh Anderson is trending. lol

Montreal fans still trying to make fetch happen, no doubt.

Maybe this deal will finally mean the end of those god awful trade proposals.

Or maybe Fitz's comment that he still wants to look for depth means they think it's a lock that he means Anderson.

Finally caught up to the thread (had to pop out right as the Zetterlund news hit). Pretty psyched with the trade. Have quite a few thoughts

Talked to an acquaintance who's a Sharks fan and these were his thoughts (paraphrased). "Iffy on the trade, loved Timo but need to move him to help the rebuild. We got 5 pieces who can potentially help the team down the road which is nice b/c we need help pretty much everywhere. But we gave up an elite player and didn't get close to elite in return. Especially sucks knowing NJ kept a lot of their top assets. Really wanted Nemec"

We acquired their ~2nd best player without giving up our top ~9 or so most valuable pieces. Have to give to get. Really liked Muk but he was our 3/4 best D prospect. Zetterlund has solid middle 6 complimentary forward upside too. Ok is about equivalent to Bahl. Late firsts can be solid top6/top4 guys and can also become Chase Stillman. None of these ceilings come close to Timo Meier.

Really thought Holtz was getting moved, made a lot of sense for us but I guess the Devils still really believe in him or SJ didn't like him, maybe both. Guess the plan is for him to take Tatar's spot next year? If Holtz plays near his potential that forward core is beyond stacked with a good bit of skillset diversity. His ELC becomes a ton more valuable to us now too.

Our LHD depth took a hit too. Hopefully Bahl keeps playing well and establishes himself as a solid NHL dman. Realistically tho both Hughes and Nemec may make the lineup next year. We can't be playing those guys and Muk/Ok in the lineup all at the same time, so many inexperienced guys is recipe for disaster. Keeping Casey whos a little further off is nice since those other guys should have some experience under his belt by the time Casey is ready.

when i bowl my technique is a 12 lb ball and a loft about 1/3 to 1/2 the lane down ....the thud is amazing. the ball just slides straight in that direction with minimal spin...works for me

(played bocce all my life)
I’m at the level where non-bowlers are really impressed by me and pros think I’m alright for a non-pro.

Bratt is expendable now. If you can lock down Meier.
I highly doubt that's the way Fitz is looking at it. He didn't go trade for Meier just to let Bratt walk or trade him.

unless Tundra wants Bratt to be gone.... :eek3:

Seriously though, I don't get why for some here, it's all of a sudden automatic that Bratt is history just 'cause we got Meier.

And through Fitz's OWN WORDS : "Jesper will be next"

I just don't get it.
