But wasn’t Blackwood just in the starters net at the morning skate? Now he’s not playing tonight because of an injury last game?

I guess he was supposed to start and just felt sore and couldn’t go. Wasn’t there one game he was supposed to start earlier this year that he left because he got hurt during warmups?

Maybe just a coincidence, but I feel like he’s been TERRIBLE since then, more particularly than since the covid break ended. He did have that 40 save shutout and a pretty good game in Pittsburgh right after that though, but he’s been lousy literally every game since other than those two. I think the game he got injured and left after warmups was against the Pens and it might be the only game Wedgewood won that wasn’t a shutout.

I do think it was always too early to call him elite and way premature, but that’s pretty rich coming from that fan base.

This is the fanbase that constantly fellated Matt Murray for being the “Only goalie to ever win the Stanley Cup twice as a rookie” and ever since then Murray has been mediocre at the most generous.

Not to mention that he wasn’t even in net for the first two rounds of the second cup win.

Lucky for them they got a joke franchise to trade for him and give him the worst goalie contract post flat salary cap.

I do trust your eye when it comes to goalies but I have a hard time the situation Mack is in as well as KNOWING he is going to get f***ed hasn't f***ed with his ability to see the puck and read plays.

Like I said yesterday, I don’t think the plan was for Blackwood to play more than 60% of the games this year at the very most. I do think Crawford would have played 45% of the games and probably more if Blackwood had struggled, but then you gotta assume Crawford would have been healthy (which wasn’t a safe bet his past few years) and that he would have played well and didn’t start to show his years, which he might have.

But with Crawford suddenly retiring, we were reduced to using an AHL goalie (Wedgewood) that we signed to be the third stringer. A goalie with an expiring NHL shelf life (Dell) that was signed to be another team’s third stringer before they had to waive him and then another guy that might have been a fourth string goalie (Comrie) for his org before he hit waivers.

Should've claimed Nedelijkovic.
Ouch.

When we was he on waivers? At the start of the season? If he were waived since then, I’d have to believe a couple teams would have put in a claim.

He would definitely be an upgrade over Wedgewood and Dell. And he potentially could have a future here, as he’s 25 years old and Wedgewood and Dell are AHL fodder over the long term.

We claimed Comrie the day that Nedeljkovic went on waivers and then claimed Dell a week later. Made no sense that we didn't put in one on Nedeljkovic whatsoever.

1/11 Eric Comrie waived by Winnipeg, claimed by New Jersey on 1/12.
1/11 Anton Forsberg waived by Edmonton, claimed by Carolina on 1/12.
1/12 Alex Nedelijkovic waived by Carolina, cleared 1/13.
1/14 Anton Forsberg waived by Carolina, claimed by Winnipeg on 1/15.
1/17 Aaron Dell waived by Toronto, claimed by New Jersey on 1/18.
2/17 Eric Comrie waived by New Jersey, claimed by Winnipeg on 2/18.
3/17 Anton Forsberg waived by Winnipeg, claimed by Ottawa on 3/18.

Troy Grosenick went from LA to Edmonton and back via waivers in there too.

Edmonton also claimed Stalock from Minnesota.

Agreed with all of this. Which leads me to believe he was doomed to preform poorly when you factor in all the variables. That's why I am not hard on him this season.

thanks.

it makes sense…..that affiliation was idiocy for travel

time to dust of the old logo….beautiful….utica did it best

bing's is terrible

lowell and albany were a reach…the devil fork didnt help for lowell

the rats were pure minor league and very 90's ….but it does hold the nostalgia of them winning the calder cup the same year as the first devils cup…got to go back to the late 70's habs to pull that off (they did it twice in a row)

edit: changing my view on lowell logo …….. it wasnt a reach for the letter logo…..it makes sense but the uppers might have thought it would look too much like a reverse marty mask logo and added the pitchfork devil …. :dunno:
