interesting moves they have us making.
There is no world where I would protect Andreas Johnsson over Mike McLeod.

Yuck at that last sentence, but given the Devils went almost exclusively to Internet radio long before most (if not all) other teams I can’t rule out an online TV package either.
Go to a channel like NJ News 12 for overflow seems easy enough? So, what happens when there are Yankee and Nets games on at the same time if there's no overflow channel? Would assume it would be rare, but has to happen occasionally?
I have a random thought on thatapparently he was involved with negotiating media rights contracts for the nba, so when we need a new tv contract in a couple of years he should be a big asset. would be nice to get off of MSG and have a network that would devote more time to devils programming, and also not make us all have to support Dolan

I have it on Comcast/Xfinity - not sure about Fios thoughIsn't NJ News 12 only a Cablevision channel, so Fios and Comcast customers wouldn't get to see these games?

I think we will end up on either SNY or YES
I just would like to see more comprehensive coverage that I know we'll never get on MSG. It sure would be nice to have a dedicated weekly Devil's hockey show.
It's not the same and I personally don't think it brings the notoriety a centralized station dedicated show can bring. The online content is basically gonna function as that in a short period, as it is they already have their own pregame, postgame and between game snippets.
Not that I recall; instead, the rumor was that since Harris and Blitzer were looking to buy the Mets, their actual end-goal was to start a mega-regional northeast sports station using all the teams they'd own/have a stake in - the Mets, Devils, 76ers, and Steelers, likely waiting for the current contracts each team had with their current networks to run out before starting a new one (though maybe they would've tried to buy SNY from the Wilpons and turn it into that superstation).I have a random thought on that

edit; wasnt there a rumor the Devils and SNY would team up? When Cohen bought the team
Thats likely where Cohen steps in and buys, and realizing everything you so beautifully laid out, offers a large sum to the Devils for the exclusive hockey rights on SNY.Not that I recall; instead, the rumor was that since Harris and Blitzer were looking to buy the Mets, their actual end-goal was to start a mega-regional northeast sports station using all the teams they'd own/have a stake in - the Mets, Devils, 76ers, and Steelers, likely waiting for the current contracts each team had with their current networks to run out before starting a new one (though maybe they would've tried to buy SNY from the Wilpons and turn it into that superstation).
That said, of the local channels I agree that SNY would be an ideal landing spot; they've got a big opening during the winter for the kind of coverage we'd love to see the Devils get since all they've got that time of year besides Jets related show is some sporadic Big East/UConn content.
However, to answer something brought up before, this year was the first time I noticed that YES apparently does have an overflow channel: since the Nets' playoff run coincided with baseball season there were days where one game of the two was on the overflow. However, it's clearly nowhere near as prominent as MSG+, and both MSG and MSG+ obviously have their own overflows already...and honestly, it'd be nice not to have to think about stuff like that, which is why SNY would feel best, the Devils would get to be the priority throughout the season.
I suppose the Wilpons would probably prefer a Mets/Jets/Islanders lineup for SNY if they could, but their deal with Dolan apparently isn't up until after the 2030-2031 season...plus, the Wilpons are supposedly looking to sell SNY just as they sold the Mets (thank God), so who knows who might be in charge there in the next few years.
Good question - they might, though I thought I've heard they've been cracking down on that.Dont VPNs work for local blackouts?
500m for 20 years in 2004, to this day its one of the higher endIsn't the MSG deal quite lucrative for the team and why they stick with it despite the coverage being lackluster?

Yeah, and the more I think about it it's why the Devils getting to SNY would likely be tough so long as the Wilpons own it: right now a huge reason SNY is a money-maker is that they pay a lower cost for Mets broadcast rights (since obviously the Wilpons owned the team and the network at first), around $68 million a year, but the end result is still SNY being valued at $1 billion but operating with an approximate $850 million debt load. That $150 million profit? The Wilpons "need" that...obviously not much "need" for a family who just sold the Mets for well over $2 billion, but these morons have been up to their eyeballs in debt for ages and SNY is a big time nest egg for them.500m for 20 years in 2004, to this day its one of the higher end
They were a powerhouse team and had been to the finals 3 of the last 4 years and won two cups when they signed that deal with MSG...I don't think they get anything close to that with current state of the organization.Isn't the MSG deal quite lucrative for the team and why they stick with it despite the coverage being lackluster?

I see if I can find the article that talk about the Devil's being the only playoff/good team in the area as the central reason for the contract. I think it was the NY Post but I'm not sureI don’t think the TV contract had much to do with their on ice performance; it was MSG fearing losing the rights to 2 upstart channels.
TV channels don’t care if you win or lose, it’s just about ratings and ad rates. Devils aren’t great in this winning or losing.
