Lou said We need to get tougher and add some scoring when he took over as President...Korn, Maley, Sunderstrom, McPhee...Boom done. Playoffs first time ever.
The issue here is you need to know what you want to build and you need know what you need...Collecting random players from the draft or trades doesn't achieve anything. No vision mean spinning in circles. And too many GM's just try to collect the best pieces available like this was some sort of fantasy keeper league.
Probably just Fitzgerald getting more of "his" people in place and removing some of the people left from the Shero regimeSomething fishy is going on behind the scenes.
So I was close....
I defend you as much as I disagree with you, but this trend of crapping on everything non-stop (whether warranted or not,) only to go silent or deflect as soon as someone tries to have a productive conversation about anything you would like to see done, past, present or future is getting old.
I am not following your thought process here? You need specifics? Is that what you are saying? How can I give you specifics when I can't figure out what the hell this organization is trying achieve? If it were up to me I go all defense all the time...Build a ridiculous stable of Dmen...But that is pure bias on my part...But I also think if you have a good 20 year D man you can cover up a lot of ugly warts...I think you still can win a championship with a D-corp as the basis for your team. That changes the conversation a bit...It is also a 180 from where we are today.
And I don't need defending Hoss.
I'd be open to hear your opinion...Is it really that hard to figure out what the organization is trying to achieve or are you just impatient and opposed to building a team around skilled players and high draft picks?
My thought process is simple. You complain non-stop for pages, defending why you think this was a dumb move or that player is a disgrace, but the second someone asks you for any actual input, you vanish. This is the closest you've come to actually saying what you would like to see happen, that I've ever seen. And what upsets me the most is I actually agree completely, so it could make for great discussion on a discussion board.... But you can go back to just saying what moves we've made over the last however many years Lou has been gone you hate the most.I am not following your thought process here? You need specifics? Two people left. Two people leave my company on a weekly basis. So we are going through Phase 2 of house cleaning it appears.
All I was trying to say was that his downward trajectory began in the first of half of that season.
That is the thing about all the detractors...they typically just complain to hear themselves speak but yet don't typically offer examples of what they would have done
At least myself (and others) throw ideas out there on who we would sign, who we would trade for, etc even if we are wrong sometimes. I was all for signing Trouba and that was a bad take. It happens.
I need to know these surefire moves that the Devils should have made over the past 4-5 years that would have turned them into a contender by now.
I think I am the user of the word "hyperbolic". I'm not sure I've seen anyone else say that in the team futility discussion. I don't think I've been up in arms about the points made by folks suggesting that the team is struggling to rebuild. I don't think most folks are in denial about it. I think it's the way the baloney is being sliced that folks take exception to. I agree there are some that are too optimistic but there are some that will typically choose to highlight the bad at most opportunities rather than be balanced. I'd just like to see reasonable discussion rather than hot takes and insults that don't advance anyone's argument.
I used to smoke a lot of hyperbowlicsI think what they mean is this team is hyperbowlic. Dreadful.
Aight, he looks pretty solid. Even with the year to year swings in both goals and assists, his 5v5 pts/60are above 2 in each of the last 2 years. His pts/60 on the pp is above 4in each of the last 2 years as well.Really hoping we trade for Garland and try to lock him up long term. At 25, you can get away with a long-term deal and probably at a relatively affordable rate ($6 million or less?).
Would be a great option in the top 6 and PP.
most of those players wouldn't even make the 4th line in 2021. it's completely different- changed rules, faster game, salary cap.
we aren't collecting random players- if you look at our defense drafting for example, we're clearly selecting a good mix of mobile and stay-at-home players. there is a process- you may disagree with it (for example, you may have wanted shero to address defense before offense and not the other way around) but it's clearly there. and not just through the draft, but consistently through trades as well.
i still don't understand why you can't just say who you want to trade and who you want to obtain. you want grit? who? and how much are you willing to give up for it? and has it occurred to you that we have grit coming through the pipeline because, for once, we have a stocked pond?
we will never see eye to eye on this because i don't think the organization is a tire fire, where we desperately need players at all positions. you do, yet you can't articulate specific things you'd like to see. and that's ok, but it's also why nobody takes you seriously. i still love you though.
