Excellent preseason game. People stood out, others didn't and everything will be made real easy for the coaching staff on certain individuals. Too bad Stepan is holding out. This team can benefit from a lot of system training and special teams training.

John Moore had a great game, best player on the ice tonight IMO. Despite a few positioning probs DZ looked good too. Boyle's line looked great. Falk, Johnson, and Bickel were just baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.
Agreed on all points but Falk and Johnson were even worse than Bickel.

Personally I think Kristo needs some seasoning. Gave the puck up a decent amount. Looked a bit tentative at times. You can tell he has the head for the game, but some confidence and easing into the speed of the pro game with the Whale could do him wonders.

Lotta camp left though, so who knows.

I am seriously ready to read some in depth overanalyzing as to why this team sucks and is going no where after losing the first preseason game, don't let me down.

These would be the guys I would imagine who wont make it from tonights game:
Marek Hrivik
Brandon Mashinter
Shawn O'Donnell
Ryan Bourque
Arron Asham
Stu Bickel
Aaron Johnson

Maybe that's a little obvious?

oh no another no offense team!

At any rate it'll be interesting to see how things change once the coaches start actually coaching the system and the players have time ot learn it

Hrivik looked decent, definitely gets a longer look, Asham was fine. Rest of the list seems fairly accurate, especially O'Donnell he seriously can't skate.

I'm not ready to construct said death-note. But I'm not happy about losing this game I can tell you that much. I don't care if it's preseason...**** I don't care if it's Chinese checkers. I don't like losing to the Devils.

Yea...except the hrivik part. Guy was one of our best players tonight. Definitely deserves another look. He was better than Kristo and Kreider IMO.

Richards/Moore were the best players for the Rangers. Nash got progressively better as the game moved along. Kreider looked good at times but didn't assert himself consistently.

Faulk looked awful. Bickel, predictably, looked awful(still haven't figured out how this guy is even a depth Dman), Boyle looked like Boyle.

Del Z looked alright, but if Moore keeps on asserting himself like he did this game: that could be the beginning of the end of his Ranger career. But, its way too early to say one way another.

Again, this is a pre-season game barely at the beginning at training camp. It doesn't say much one way or another.

I was really only disappointed that we haven't seen any significant tactical changes yet. Specifically on the transition game. That is the area of the game that most concerns me. It seems like AV just wanted to see where these guys are at.

PP looked better however. Way more decisive than what we have seen in the past.

Kristo didn't impress, Kreider neither.

Kristo had a good game. Kreider was meh.

The bad - Falk, Johnson, bickel, O'Donnell, Mash, Bourque, Boyle, Powe

The good - Talbot, Hrivik, Moore, MDZ

Everyone else was just ok

Hrivik and Kristo were creating and Boyle was useless.

AV said he wasn't planning on implementing his system until AFTER these first two games. That might be part of the reason you don't see much difference. They play tomorrow and have like 6 days without a game and will have trimmed the roster down substantially, much easier to teach the system then.

The way I assess that is to see how they played under Torts more, and see where to tweak/change to their advantage.

Yeah, that is what I figured. I was just disappointed. Not saying it was rational disappointment..
