We never tested a green goalie... surprise surprise

They took away Kreider and the PP folded. Cost us the game. Adjustments need to be made.

This is on Panarin and Zibs imo. Hit a freakin corner. It's embarrassing. I guess hitting the net would be an improvement...

This happened to Zibs last season too. He looked terrible to start the playoffs against Pittsburgh but the goals eventually came, later in the series.

Trocheck and Chytil? Wtf is going on? Chytil looked drunk last night. Made terrible plays/passes. Couldn't handle the puck. Where's Trocheck? He was suppose to be the spark plug.

BRING THEM TO A HOTEL IN THE CITY. FOR THE REST OF THE PLAYOFFS, THEY SHOULD LIVE, BREATH AND EAT IN HOTELS. STAY FOCUSED.

I don’t disagree with a single thing you said in this post aside from the reference to OT, which goes to show you are missing my point, which I will take responsibility for as it seems many are. I’m done with this conversation. On to game 4. f*** the Debbie’s. f*** the NHL, and f*** the haters!
No worries. It was a bad call. Frustrating. Could have resulted in an injury to our goalie.

Hope game 4 works out better.

But yes the fact that Meier did try to injure our goaltender is something they should have a conversation with him about.

We've got a guy on our blue line who makes a living punishing players with clean hits.

You know, not for nothing, but what do some of you expect? The Devils just had an incredible season. None of you who liked this comment or you yourself, going into this series, expected this series to go less than five games. These two teams are damn good and rivals. In '94, that team had several HOFers and they had to go seven with Vancouver despite Vancouver having 85 lousy points. Rangers had 112. Canucks were up 3-1 in that series too lol. Against a Messier-led Rangers team. People need to relax.
Actually Rangers were up 3-1 against Vancouver but Vancouver won the next 2 and forced a game 7. Still to your point the Rangers had to win two tough 7 game series to win the cup.

At the end of the day overall the rangers didn’t wanna dump it in and work for it the way they have for game 1 & 2. They played lazy and tried to skill their way to a win.

Then winning game 1 & 2 definitely got to their head thinking they are more superior and don’t have to work as hard. Every team in the league goes through this. The power play was unable to bail them out from this last night. Hopefully this mean the rangers realize they still have to come to play playoff hockey

Honestly I never expected us to sweep. Taking the first two games in jersey has given some on here an unrealistic expectation to sweep

Trust me I was disappointed with last night, they should have won last night and then game 4 is whatever. I wouldn’t even say game 4 is a “must win” but obviously the pressure to win increases after losing game 3

Overall we played ok, but I expect them to turn it up a notch on Monday. Honestly they would have won last night if not for that horrible penalty decision against us that gave the devils that late powerplay

Most disappointing player so far has to be Mika. Panarin had a fantastic game 1, and even through the last 2 he’s shown a lot more aggression on the forecheck and effort defensively similar to his first year here or his CBJ days. He’s showing heart, even going after a 6’6 230lb Bahl

That may have something to do with it but the Devils were desperate and played better. The other team gets paid too. They also made adjustments on the PK which was key. We can analyze every game under a microscope but this series is going to come down to special teams and goaltending like so many series do. Igor was good last night but we lost the special teams battle and ultimately the game. We go 1 for 5 on the PP instead of zero and we win that game.

We did and he was a part of that.

I wouldn’t be too sure on Panarin either. They made the moves to appease him this deadline. If he doesn’t perform he’s outta here imo.

He has time to make his mark
He has a full no move clause right? that's more what I'm worried about. Can they get him to waive?
I've said it before but I'd trade him to be able to keep Tank.

we lost because of the BS roughing penalty on Shesterkin. i dont like to complain about the refs, but literally everyone on the broadcast thought it was a bad call.
It was an awful call and the idiot ref was right there. NHL officiating is hands down the worst of any of the major sports and that is saying something. There have been pretty awful calls in other games too costing other teams games as well. That being said the Rangers didn't do a damn thing with 5 PP's.

Everyone shitting on Panarin and Zib. I thought they were fine. Devils are clearly targeting them defensively. Which makes sense, they drove our offense all season long. It's no coincidence that Kreider is thriving right now. The benefits of having so many offensive weapons and depth on your team.

If they tell him to gtfo, I can’t imagine he would want to stay.

They’d have to eat salary but we’re a long ways away from getting to that point. He has time to keep that from even being a conversation.

Fil had his worst game in years and Trouba can’t convert a stretch pass for S. Otherwise we played pretty soundly.

As a NYC outsider, feel free to tell me to piss off; I would get it , but there are a few things that I see a little differently than some of you guys who have that allegiance more engrained.

1) The crowd at MSG is pretty average compared to the rest of the league for creating an atmosphere, and has been for at least a decade, probably longer. Compared to other playoff teams, we're easily in the bottom half. The only teams that are clearly worse are the teams that have traditionally struggled with attendance. Yeah, there are lots of cheers when we score, but that will happen in any arena; the actual crowd engagement has felt lacking for quite a while.

2) The ice at MSG SUCKS. Has to be one of the absolute worst surfaces in the league, and is a big contributor to why people think players can't make simple skilled plays as easily for us.

3) Sam and Joe, legends though they may be, have lost a step, and the only really good reason to keep them on at this point is the nostalgia factor. Which I get; I absolutely hated seeing Bob Cole's decline and then listening to his final game. But as somebody who doesn't have that nostalgia for MSG, I've found myself watchin to other broadcasts the majority of the season.
#1 is completely accurate. Adding to it, MSG on a Saturday night is going to be full of people who are wealthy, have access to corporate seats & are looking to be seen instead of interested in the game itself. Makes for a horrible atmosphere & a really tame playoff crowd.

#2, the ice at MSG, especially this time of year with warmer, humid weather & a ton of events is going to be worse than usual. And usual sucks as is.

#3 is a fair analysis, but Sam & Joe are still head & shoulders above the shit ESPN trotted out there last night. The fact that awful broadcast, including the pregame/intermissions/post game shows, was "showcased" on a national level was straight up embarrassing. The NHL is truly out to lunch thinking that ESPN has been good for the sport. Hopefully you were able to get a Canadien feed last night & weren't subjected to the US broadcast.

I don't know it it was the sound on ABC or whatever but hope to hear a more raucous crowd on Monday. Unfortunately, when the cheapest ticket is around 500 bucks many real fans can't attend. That's just the way it is I guess.

My buddy was there live, as were a few posters who said the same thing; the crowd was a dud last night. Mix in an 8:15 start with many people who started boozing around 5 & start to run out of steam and you get a lifeless atmosphere.

His worst game of the season maybe. Usually he does the right things but last night was rough for him. I just wish he would learn to protect himself from hits.
Especially while he's clearly still favoring that shoulder.
