I *****in hate greg Millen...
His kid has terrible stats and would never normally get a shot in an NHL camp

Jim Hughes acknowledges Morgan Rielly might have outgrown junior. "It's a delicate situation." #Leafs

Anyone who's actually watched Rielly for more than a couple games there can tell you he should be done with juniors.

Yep, and Nonis is already alluding to a chance to make the big club. There is zip for Morgan to gain from another year in junior, he has the maturity to learn with the big club. This also explains why we aren't addressing the D in the off season! Reilly has a spot if he grabs it.

Video from the end of today's camp day 1

Great Spott interview too. He touched on the system part of his coaching and he said it won't be like when he was in Kitchener, more or less. They will meet together and make sure both the Leafs and the Marlies have the same system.

I know people are not confident in Spott but he seems very excited and anxious about being about to pump some NHL talent going through the Marlies. Also touched on the Marlies having a heavy lineup of young players, which was also nice to hear.

Talk is cheap but it made me a lot more confident into his hiring.

I agree. Watching the interview makes me feel better because he's going to try and follow Carlyle's system.

Some good video on the Leafs site. Spott wouldn't stop looking into the camera

Also, Andreas Johnson looked like Hall when I watched the video at first.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. It annoyed the hell outta me!

Rielly's outgrown junior.

It is now etched in stone, I truly believe management thinks he is ready for a spot this fall and release this skating beast on the ice for the world to see, after all, he was 1st overall in our books and fell down to us. This was a Dave Morrison personal pick and I do believe one year in the WHL was enough for Rielly, he can make the jump.

Might as well ... MacIntyre and Sparks are the pencilled in goalies for the Marlies next year, right?
Yeap we need competition there and even in the AHL as well. So who knows.

Love Rielly but again patience is needed, offensively he's a beast. He still needs time and we shouldn't need to rush him. By all means if he's ready for the big leagues with the right mind set and shows he can do it, no one is stopping him. However this is a team game and if he can play offensively but still struggles with his defensive game let him go back and take his time.

We have a gem in our hands, we should make that gem shine as bright as possible. For that we need to be delicate and craft it properly, so he and we can get the best out of it.

Just a feeling this is kind of a prediction for me, so I'm calling it now lol.

Just wondering who agrees with me?

Comments about Rielly by Jim Hughes are already being discussed in the Development Camp thread.

A bit of a stretch to go from that to "etched in stone".

But I do agree he's got a very good chance of making it. However, with the success Kadri's shown, I think management may be a little more willing to be patient with Rielly. One more year of Junior, some WHL playoff experience, playing a lead role on the WJC defense, then maybe a year in the AHL, and go from there.

All that being said; if he's light's out in training camp, the preseason, and any regular season games he gets, and he earns a spot, then it's all up to the coach to determine if he really is ready.

I will never understand peoples impatience with prospects.
Rielly should make the team when he forces his way on to it. Just like Gardiner did a couple years ago.
And I highly doubt management has made their decision on him months before training camp even opens.

I understand people are excited about this kids future abut as LR pointed out if we want that kids future to be its brightest the team has to be careful to make sure he is developed properly. No prospect has ever been ruined by and extra year of jr. but many have been ruined by being rushed.

if reilly doesn't make the team out of camp we should trade him to maximize his value. BUST.

I get the patience deal but this kid is amazing. He will succeed if given the chance.

I'm not so sure. He played well in the AHL, but he wasn't exactly lights out.

I don't have a doubt in my mind that he can play in the NHL this year, but I'm not so sure he'd excel.
