Soooooo...just phoned MCC and some lady told me the scrimmage tomorrow is listed as "closed to the public", but "there is a window in the hallway you can watch through and check if they are allowing the public in".

Clarity?

Basically they're trying to limit people attending, but as long as it's not a circus (it won't be - trust me, we're the exception, not the norm), you should be able to watch from inside.

First clear response I've got. Thanks!

EDIT: My only question is, why would they publish the scrimmage times online and in the papers then ;)

could be the guy we need for depth scoring!

Could see him, Broll, D'amigo and maybe Biggs making noise at camp.

What I find amusing is that over the past couple of years, pretty much everything I have read has said that at this point in their development, David Broll is the better player over Tyler Biggs.

Same height, similar weight, same age, same draft year. The offensive production between the two isn't even that far off, and Broll has never been used as an offensive weapon.

I honestly do hope Biggs pans out, but I can't believe the fan following he has here. There has been virtually nothing to be excited about, and if you listen to Biggs interviews -- even he doesn't seem to envision himself as an offensive contributor.

I like him, I hope for the best, etc...but I don't even see him in our top 10 prospects at this point.

This is how I see it:

Morgan Reilly
Matt Finn
Joe Colborne
Fredrik Gauthier
Stuart Percy
Petter Granberg
Josh Leivo
Jerry D'Amigo
Carter Ashton
Greg McKegg

At this point in time, if Biggs wasn't a first round pick it wouldn't surprise me if our management assigned him to the ECHL, as that is probably where he's more suited to at this point in time.

Considering there are a lot of stat watchers on here, who use stats as their main tool, I'm surprised about all of the hype around Biggs, because his stats are not great. On a similar note, so many people are giving up on Carter Ashton, for instance, when if you read actual reports...while the points weren't there, he apparently looked great last year in the AHL. Same with D'Amigo, obviously. And Dallas Eakins teams were never known for high offensive totals from any of the star players.

In a 1-0 game where the goalies didn't stand on their heads there was probably a lot of good defensive work that isn't being reported here.

Just hits and goals.. not exactly in-depth.

Biggs had some issues with his skating that was limiting him in his Marlies stint. He worked on it and hopefully improved.

I'm a Biggs fan but I have him above mckegg and Ashton. Power forwards take a while to develop

I was not impressed by Biggs at all. He was rock solid defensively, probably the best shot blocker on the ice; but did zilch offensively. Leivo is and has been quite a bit better than Biggs for a while now in my opinion.

Kevin Goumas would make a good Marlie, he was by quite a bit the best invite today and I hope they offer him a deal. Lightning fast...

As I said before Leivo was the most impressive player followed by Granberg. Leivo did everything out there, a very well rounded player and a serious threat to score whenever he had the puck. Granberg was very solid on D, while playing with a nice edge. He and Rielly also worked quite well together. (I'm leaving out Rielly who was obviously the best player there)

I think people need to chill with biggs. he is a PWF and those take a while. need some patience with these type of kids. The sad thing is a lot are already calling him a bust. you would think people would have learned a thing or two with kadri's development.

not pointing you out, just others in general.

Thanks again for the update. I hope to see Granberg called up to the big club sometime this year if he does well with the marlies.

Stand out players whom rights we do not own... Goumas, Burnside and Millen (lol)

Goumas is great with the puck, he's fast and very skilled.
Burnside is good at everything and has got great wheels.
Millen was actually really good, nice positioning and very athletic, he is a little small however.

If it was up to me I'd sign Goumas, Burnside and C.Gibson. Gibson only because of his draft history.

Ask me about anyone and I'll give my opinion.

I agree about Millen, he was lights out in the shootout.

It's the opposite actually. People need to chill on thinking he is a top 5 prospect of ours. It would be better to put him on the back burner for a while and let him develop his game...and then let him surprise. He doesn't deserve the amount of attention and fan praise he gets. And it's not as if a number 7-13 prospect in our system hasn't jumped through the ranks and surprised before. Yes, power forwards take longer to develop. I wouldn't be too, too surprised if he pulled a David Clarkson and really came into his own in his late 20's in a similar role. But I really don't expect anything much sooner. In fact, I think it would be beneficial to everyones mindset to limit their expectations on Biggs. Maybe he'll surprise us, but right now I think there are many, many more players in our system who deserve more attention!!

And comparing Kadri to Biggs is a horrible, horrible comparison - even comparing their development paths. Different types of players aside, Kadri looked great in the OHL, great in the AHL, and floundered a bit in the NHL - and that's where the bust talks were coming in --- when he wasn't looking like a regular NHL player. Biggs hasn't looked special at any level he has played.

Funny cause most of those guys are above average CHLers. And he has a full off season to workout ahead of him.

People need to chill with this routine anytime any one comments on his play. It's no different that praising Leivo, you just comment on perceptions. Tyler is a big IF, there are more people assuming he plays in the NHL than writing him off as a bust from what I see around here.

No yeah I understand that, all I'm saying is currently he isn't standing out among other prospects. Leivo plays a similar game, yet he seems to be flourishing offensively. It should be expected that by 20 years old a 1st round pick would stand out at a prospect camp.

I like Biggs, I hope he does well. It's just right now I can't project him to be anything more than a ~30 point NHL player. That being said, sometimes guys like him just snap into it at 23 years old and start producing.
