Devan Dubnyk is playing great hockey right now.

False, but thanks for playing.
Actually, that statement was pretty true. For the first time in our existence, the Wild's crease monkeys couldn't stop a beach ball most nights. They were okay the first month or so, but it got damn ugly in a hurry. An example of that is how refreshing it is to see Dubs make a routine save look easy. Forgot what those looked like.

If Dubnyk keeps up this level play he's earning himself a nice contract. Huge(6,6), athletic, good with the puck which makes things easier for the D, and he plays a really calm style of tendy...oh yeah with a former 1st round pedigree as well.

With a team that can limit shots as well as the Wild can-- both 5 on 5 and on the PK-- the Wild might be a the perfect fit for Dubnyk.

7-1-1 with 4 shutouts? Whaaat.

Good for Dubs. He played like a badass during his time here in Phoenix, despite the team being awful, and a lot of us 'Yotes fans thought that he would fit in well with Minnesota, when he was traded.

Dubnyk was our 3rd string goalie in the AHL. Safe to say absolutely nobody saw it coming.

I assume you're a fellow Habs fan by your comment. But he was actually our 4th string behind Price, Budaj, and Tokarski. Amazing what a little confidence does.

Glad to see the guy is really pulling it together. I really liked him in his year for the Oilers before he forgot how to play hockey. Seems like such a great guy, wish he could have figured it out while playing for us, but glad to see him finding success elsewhere.

Just goes to show you how terrible the Oilers' defence and goaltending coach are/were.

Don't forget swarm-master Eakins. And the GM that was predicting his failure openly in the media before the 13/14 season even started.

Darcy Kuemper started the season very similarly. We all know how that went.

It largely isn't the goaltending. Any goalie will have great numbers when the Wild plays like this, and any goalie won't when they play like they did a month ago. Most bipolar team ever.

Kuemper however is a much younger goalie with a lot less experience in the big league. I can see Dubnyk keeping this play up for the rest of the season, he has the skill to do it and the team he is on now is the perfect fit for him.

It's also amazing how a team plays better and starts to focus on their game and not crappy goaltending...when the goaltending is no longer crappy. The Wild's poor play stemmed from poor goaltending.

The goal tending was so bad that the team started trying to do things to protect the goalies like limit shots, block shots, etc that got the team away from their game. They were running around trying to do other peoples jobs and not doing their own job.

New goalie that the team is confident in front of and they are now back to playing their own roles and team game.
