Every team has had plenty of those games this season. Not many teams have a third of their wins while being outshot 3 to 1 or 2 to 1
Point still stands that they’ve played better recently (both in wins and losses). If you want to complain about Yzerman’s work as a whole I’d suggest reading through the 80 page thread that gets bumped everytime the Wings lose a few games and where the critics refuse to reply anytime the Wings are doing okay. It’s so much fun.

It's tough because when you get young talent you want them to take the next step, but some never really do after their initial development.

So teams are left in this awkward spot where they have some good young players, but they're not all that great really. You want to build around them, but they're not core superstar pieces, they're more in between superstar and complimentary. Good enough to look fantastic as secondary guys, but not so good they will lead you much of anywhere.

It's awkward because the next step is tough, do you strip it even further and risk being Buffalo/Phoenix type team or do you continue to hope drafting 8-15 you're going to find some stud who can take you to the next level?

Why are troll threads like these accepted here? Let’s discuss the downfall of this board instead.

Nah. I like threads like this. We can bump it and shame all the posters who had short sighted ignorant takes and allow them to continue to carve out their 'reputation' on the board. Many of the commenters in this thread alone already have a poor reputation on the board.

My suggestion to HF management is to never allow a username change. We want to track who the ignorant posters are.

Imagine crowing like this all while giving Buffalo’s record for futility a run for its money. When you make the playoffs you can maybbbe start to talk about ignorant takes.

With Seider and Raymond already locked up for a long time, an accidental tank season is probably their best case scenario longterm. Coming out of the tank too early and getting Kasper/Danielson/Brandsegg-Nygard with their own picks instead of players more high end was probably the biggest mistake. Reminds me of when Buffalo acquired O’Reilly and pulled themselves out of a tank position but never made the next step.

That's the problem. Who decide when a building team (esp. when their rookies are still developing) gets to decide the 'playoff' meter? HFboard trolls? Ignorant posters? You?

Fact is Wings have significantly improved each season and missed the playoffs last season by 0 points. This is without a majority of their top prospects who are tearing up their respective leagues. Yzerman has been honest about the rebuild time frame, but everyone wants to ignore it in favor of their 'HOT TAKES'. We get to see in real time who become sheep and create an echochamber on their own beliefs while those same people probably live in their parent's basement and are deplorable and jobless.

Wings uptick speaks for itself. You don't get to decide how quickly they "should make it". Your opinion on the matter is as vast as a toddler criticizing Einstein's theory of relativity.

But you will be remembered when those prospects graduate and make you look silly. Please don't change your username. We want to know who YOU are!

What would have to happen for this revenge tour to happen?

We all get to show the lack of respect to the people who deserve it. What would have to happen? You tell me, you are the one who gives infractions...

That first statement is very funny to me... going from non playoff team to non playoff team to non playoff team is not considered 'significant improvement'. It's incremental improvement. The Nucks had significant improvement from their previous season last year as a great example.

That is significant improvement and I'm an Oil fan and the Nucks hate us.

You are saying the rebuild is going well so I don't understand when you will be pointing out the lack of respect to people who deserve it? Is that when the Wing's make the playoffs?

Stevie Y was doing some good work in Tampa with Palat, Johnson etc. but I can't help but wonder how his tenure would have been looked upon had he not lucked into Kucherov (lucked into because he clearly valued Namestnikov over him unless he asked like 20 GMs "are you going to take Kucherov with your second rounder yes or no").

With Red Wings, his tenure just feels uninspired and mid. All the Hussos, Reimers, Talbots, Holls, Chariots, Maattas, Petrys, Copps, Comphers, washed Kanes and Tarasenkos, just an endless flow of well compensated mid sludge. I get that Holland left them in a "bad" spot but nothng was stopping Stevie Y from going after players like Verhaeghe, Forsling, Montour, Dylan Strome instead. Trading up from the Wyatt Johnson pick we gifted him for Mantha to draft Cossa was quite an ouch moment as well.

See there you go. It's hivemind mentality that playoffs is the only achievement. If an 11 point jump while many of their top prospects are still in their respective leagues dominating, then I don't know what to tell you.

Are you using Canucks as the bar now? Do they have top prospects in the system still developing or are they what they are? I legit don't follow the Canucks. Never viewed them as a team to follow as their games start at 11pm my time. And I don't follow their division. Looking at their playoff record the past 9 years, they missed the playoffs 7 times. Is that the bar we are using? Lol.

I'm hoping Stevie Y is building a perennial contender, not a sporadic playoff team... we don't know what we have yet in the kids still in the system. However, the future is looking bright.

Bruh, again, make the playoffs and maybe win a game or two and then people will read these novels of yours. Nobody cares.

Yes, it's a tremendous bar for 'significant improvement'. They went from not even close to playoffs to winning the division. They are still very good today (although I loved watching my Oil tune them up last night.lol) and should make playoffs handily and compete! And that's without their elite starter.

If you feel 'making playoffs' isn't the only achievement this season then we will have to agree to disagree... but it makes no sense to me. You were 0 points shy last year... the absolute smallest increment possible is to make the playoffs. Everything else is a setback. .

What is going on with the Detroit Redwings!? Each game is just a letdown to sit through! Despite all the star power we have this year, we can't even score like we did last year! Poor overseeing from
management to put Husso in for the NYR game tonight too! Something significant has to happen for this organization because it is unacceptable!!!
Star power? The Wings are a meh team. They will finish in that middle of the ps k range and (likely) draft another meh player. They just haven’t been able to find the star players.

Could be worse, could have a GM like Brad Treliving that can't make it out of the 1st round of the playoffs as the team's window is starting to close.

One team on their way up, one on their way down.
Lolz. Who's on their way up?

Noob is in here replying to a thread and quoting a poster while declaring "nobody cares". You can't make this shit up! LMAO!

Irony tastes so good. Yum yum yum!

Wow, is the regular season over already and the Yzerplan met the lowest possible bar of success? No? Still not caring then.

Imagine crowing like this all while giving Buffalo’s record for futility a run for its money. When you make the playoffs you can maybbbe start to talk about ignorant takes.

A run for it's money?

Buffalo last made the playoffs in 2011. 41 year old Nicklas Lidstrom won the Norris trophy that year. Mark Recchi aged 43 finally retired

Detroit made the playoffs last in 2016 with your old buddy Ken Holland at the helm scraping every last piece of shit from the bucket to throw at the wall while Datsyuk and Zetterberg aged into their late 30's

Since 2011, Buffalo has had:
Two 1st overall picks (Dahlin, Power)
Two 2nd overall picks (Eichel, Reinhart)

The latter two got traded and won Stanley Cups with their franchises less than 3 years later

Since 2016, Detroit has had:
One 4th overall pick (Raymond)
Three 6th overall picks (Zadina, Seider, Edvinsson)

...The former is a Holland pick so go figure. Guy couldn't see Quinn Hughes playing in his fricken backyard but jumped on Mr "Fill Nets With Pucks" Zadina instead

Maybe you have an agenda against Detroit because your team scooped up their GM and also reaped the ineptitude of his management decisions

So no, Detroit isn't giving Buffalo a run for it's money (for the record I am rooting for that team to figure things out finally)

Let's maybe dial back on the word choices like "ignorant", brother

Wings core and 'future' core is like 19 - 23, with Larkin being the outlier at 28 years old of their core group. Looking at Canucks roster, their core is 26 - 31.

Where were the Canucks in the standings when their core groupe was 19-23? They were putting up 69 and 73 points in the season. One could argue Detroit is ahead of Canucks in their respective stage of the rebuild.

I don't think using Canucks is a fair example.
