Seems like major wishful thinking to think you will have 3 Norris trophy contenders on one team.
"potential". That's the word I used. Not "I think this is a sure thing", which seems to be the sentence you read.

Trying to peg goaltending prospects as having Vezina potential is pretty out there as well.
Why is it "pretty out there" to say 2 of the world's 5 best goalie prospects have that potential? Wouldn't it be far more out there to say the best goalie prospects in the world don't have that potential?

Seider, Edvinsson, ASP = Norris calibre potential
Cossa, Augustine = Vezina calibre potential
Kasper, Danielson = Selke calibre potential
I edited this for you since you also seem to have read a completely different sentence.
Just to check if you understand the meaning of the word; would you say Connor Bedard has Hart-potential, despite him not being in the top 100 Hart candidates this season?

They just don’t have any star calibre talent. They remind me of the Canucks before they got their Franchise pieces in Hughes/Pettersson/Demko/Miller. Larkin/Raymond is their Horvat/Boeser. Their defence for the future is looking solid but lack that game changing #1 dman.

Need elite level management to get out of this purgatory which I don’t think they have at all. Best bet is just hope for a lottery win.

So now you've thrown out "franchise altering" and "superstar" without any attempt to define either term. How many superstars are in the league?

I'll start with my definition:

Superstars: McDavid, Draisatl, Mackinnon, Makar, Pastrnak, Kucherov, Shesterkin.
Could be talked into maybe another 2-3 names. But that's about it. ~10 max.
20+ teams at least don't have a superstar in my eyes. So you might see why I don't think the lack of a superstar is the be all, end all.

Does Detroit have one? No. But they probably have at least a handful of players that either are or could get into the tier below = "stars".
Quinn Hughes is a superstar. Too bad Detroit passed on him.

Raymond has outscored Pettersson in 2024. He’s 22 btw.

Rebuilds on the fly rarely work and unfortunately Yzer still hasn't come to terms with it.

When Yzerman took over the team had just finished with 74 points. 5.5 years later they are on pace for 78 points, unless he has an absolute gem come in next year and they make the playoffs, that should be it for him. 7 years with little to no progress in terms of contention is not a good result, not that I care either way, but I would want him gone at that point.

its neck and neck, EP: 67 LR: 69 with still a month to go.

EP was slumping so bad the past calender year that we have angry mobs outside his house though. he's still point per game through it all.

Most people don’t realize this. And I’ve been bashing my team pretty aggressively lately.

But it’s only a matter of time before they’re pissing you lot over again.

Nobody is scared of nor impressed by the current nor future DRW.

The wings are completely average and I don’t see that changing in the near future.

No elite talent on the roster.

Then why does it matter what Yzerman does?

What's that saying? Don't interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake?

And their top prospect is putting up some pretty mediocre numbers Nate Danielson Hockey Stats and Profile at hockeydb.com
Lol, the stat page isn't even up to date as he posted 1G + 1A today and looked excellent all over the ice against the 2nd best team in the Eastern Conference

10 points in his last 10 games and hasn't gone without more than 2 games without a point after going pointless in his first 4 games this season. So 13 points in his last 16 games. Not a bad start for a 20 year old who's already NHL-level defensively. He's been generating tons of offense on his own and playing all-situations

How about Sebastian Cossa, Axel Sandin-Pellikka, or Trey Augustine? All top of their leagues right off the bat this season

This is complete fiction. The Blues targeted Nick Leddy then re-signed him to a contract he has more than earned. Leddy has been fantastic in St. Louis and prior to his stint in Detroit had been a solid top 4 defender on multiple long playoff runs in Long Island. He had value and likely multiple suitors despite a down year on a dog shit red wings team.

I don’t know of any off ice issues with Walman in St. Louis - the team that drafted and developed him for years. Trading him was the cost of acquiring a better player more suited to the teams needs at that time.

Lol.

Much like the Oilers, rode the glory years and then started hiring the players to come in to manage after.

Too bad they just aren’t good enough.

Oilers bagged 4 #1s in six years, have the best player in the league and can’t win anything.

They need to move on from the OBC cause it ain’t working and it likely won’t change.

Dude, I just got back from the Griffins game and Danielsson was a complete MONSTER. He had 2 points and carrying play. He was over a PPG last year in his first AHL pro opportunity, he was a BEAST in the playoffs and game breaker.

You should probably go change your username and stay off HFBOARDS for a few months..., you've been exposed!

None of what you just said is all that impressive. You should look at what some of the other prospects picked in his range are doing. Detroit has not been drafting well in recent years. I like Moe but Rasmussen and Zadina were bad picks and Danielson and Kasper don’t look like anything special. What a mediocre rebuild Yzerman has done in Motown.

He… didn’t score a point in the AHL last year? The homerism in this thread is so extreme it’s leading y’all to see games that were never played.

I looked at his WHL (24 points in 18 games) record. He only played 2 AHL playoffs games.

Dude is an AHL rookie and has been on a roll in the AHL - and just dominated today. How many games have you watched?

Intentionally leaving out Raymond and Edvinsson. Sad. I see your agenda

Like who? Obviously Michkov is a huge steal for Philly but what else?

Dvorsky with 2 more points in the AHL?
Leonard who is still in college?
Willander in college?
But playing decent in the khl?
Benson with 6 pts in 18 games this year?
Yager still in juniors?

Like, who? Seriously ? Y’all just talk shit without any actual basis to it beyond “Detroit sucks hehe”
