Doubt Buffalo is interested in moving Cozens to Detroit unless Larkin or Seider is involved.
Oh, I completely see why Detroit (and frankly, a bunch of other teams) would be interested in Cozens.Fair enough. Though worth noting, Cozens is screams "Yzerman player". It does pass the logic test that Detroit would be interested.
If it helps, even less interest from Detroit. Wouldn't trade ASP for Power straight up.Thanks for clarifying. No interest from Buffalo.
Cozens has one more point than JT Compher over the last two seasons… I am not saying they are the same valued asset, but Buffalo fans need to realize this isn’t two years ago and you’re selling a distressed asset with a big contract.Doubt Buffalo is interested in moving Cozens to Detroit unless Larkin or Seider is involved.

I would definitely send him out if division if I am the Sabres but Cozens play for two years running is going to mean you’re not getting what your heart desires. Probably why most of the Sabres fanbase isn’t interested but the GM that is about to get fired might not align.
That's certainly a take. I'm sure everyone agrees you can keep your 27 year old 5'9" dman with 39 points in 228 NHL games.Even less interest from Buffalo .. I wouldn't trade Bryson for ASP straight up.

I just don't see a deal that makes sense for either side out there though. Unless Adams is somehow addicted to playing the youngest team in the league....a deal centered around somebody like Kasper, Danielson or ASP just doesn't make any sense at all.
Seider, Larkin and Raymond aren't moving unless Yzerman gets way too drunk and high.
Cozens as part of the package, whatever the extra cost is idk.Cozens has one more point than JT Compher over the last two seasons… I am not saying they are the same valued asset, but Buffalo fans need to realize this isn’t two years ago and you’re selling a distressed asset with a big contract.

Why are you surprised Yzerman came to work for detroit? I'm viewing this as an outsider and not in the trenches and daily talking.Good to know, what he wrote about the Yzerman timeline was false. Without shots towards the poster the information is just plain wrong, which happens a lot in the main boards crusade on Yzerman.
There was always a hope at some point he would come home but it had honestly faded a decent amount, I remember being completely floored the first time I heard the rumor. I know he loves Detroit but he built a prohibitive cup favorite and left them before they cashed for the worst talent situation in the league. Once he stepped down in Tampa it could have been obvious but in the Summer of 2018 they would have locked the thread for suggesting that sequence around here.
Stole from @TheOctopusKid on Detroit's subforum.
Take it with a grain of salt. It's a podcast of retired Sabres, with Buffalo ties.

To me its obvious. It has happened elsewhere in the NHL and other sports where Star player return to his team as coach/gm/president/ part owner
I can see it being s bigger shock if he came out of nowhere where he wasnt involved in hockey team operations anywhere.
He was detroit AGM in DET then went to tampa after they kept Holland. Hr views this as an insult and wants to prove himself
He goes to tampa after they got Stamkos and Hedman. He builds the team.
He sees he has a strong candidate under him to take over just like he was passed over back in Detroit and he saw detroit falling off drafting top 10 in 2017 and 2018. He steps down with the long term plan on going back to detroit, not right after ssy seeing an heir depart right before he leaves.
He sees they are likely going to change GM/management going thru a rebuild with Holland being there for so long
Its viewed as a big clhallenge in rebuilding a team and restore it. He does it hes a hero. He also doesnt come with an asterisk that inheriting good players can bring. That's true with all GMs....how much credit goes to you in building a team vs your predecessor who might have drafted and built the foundation before you hot the job
Yzerman resigned in Tampa in September 2018. He stayed on as an advisor until April, when he was hired on April 19th. To hear it in July/August of 18 that he was leaving Tampa for this after the draft, free agency etc was surprising. Very surprising, to pick the destination afterwards was not, but that wasn’t and hasn’t been the context of the posts by Wings fans on it. We are not talking about after September of 18.Why are you surprised Yzerman came to work for detroit? I'm viewing this as an outsider and not in the trenches and daily talking.

No the tweet is still there. But I don’t think that is an account to be taken seriously as an insider. It’s more of a fun fan engagement pod/account.Tweet deleted?
Pete’s clearly has good scouting contacts to me over the years. Doesn’t mean they are right on this but yeah a ton of trust historically on what is put out there and great in depth posts. Honestly one of my all-time favorites on pure talent and hockey system analysis. Longer posts but always excited for the insight.Who was the one talking pre draft about the wings interest in Seider? I think it was Petes but cant remember. Either way, if people want to downplay someone with an obvious source they can, but its pretty stupid to do so. He isnt Bob Mackenzie but hes gotta be the most legit poster on this site

Yeah, everyone expected Yzerman to eventually end up back in Detroit. No one expected him to resign his post as GM on a future dynasty before any cups were won, then take the wings job while Holland was still there which forced Holland out of Detroit.
There was asbolutely nothing normal about that.
As for a potential Cozens trade, if Kasper is going in a trade, I would hope it’s part of a package for someone that has less risk attached to them than Cozens. That contract, combined with the last 2 seasons is not something I want to trade Kasper for. I think if Yzerman had Kasper on the table, Cozens would be a wing already

I have thought for a few days and what scared me was Edvinsson got hurt on the Thursday into the freeze. We would go ballistic but Ras and Edvinsson gets you a far bigger package. The LD part makes me think not for Buffalo but he played a lot on the right in Sweden. But that is where Cozens and Byram start to make more sense with whatever add-ons but I would be extremely pissed at Yzerman.

From Detroit’s standpoint. I think Cozens would be a really nice get.
We obviously can’t take on his caphit. But if Buffalo was willing to take back some salary. I think Detroit would be smart to throw a really nice package together.
It'll be fun when the news finally breaks that we swapped a depth player for a late pick.Détroit doesn't have the pieces to go after Cozens and Byram. At least not if the trade should make sense for the Sabres. Which is not a given with the current powers that be at the helm in Buffalo.
God I hope they dodge the bullet. This thread is exhausting.
Lmfao this is absurd. Axel is a top 2 drafted defenseman, arguably #1 (tossup with Nikishin). As a GM, you'd be run out of town if you balked at ASP for Bryson
Seider is good but is being risto'd he is faltering playing against top competition and doesn't have nearly the same skating ability or transition ability that power does and is older. Power will close that gap with more maturity
Age and ceiling will favors power in terms of value power would fetch more in a tradeNot sure how you can be "Faltering against top competition" carrying a +1 on a team that's -24, but keep going...
Also weird how we went from "Power > Seider" to, "Power will close that gap."
... Kinda suggests that Power doesn't > Seider.
Age and ceiling will favors power in terms of value power would fetch more in a trade
Power is getting better while seider is stagnating and dropping in terms of overall play both play similar roles while Kasper is in a 4c role being overwhelmed compared to cozens in a 2c role who seems to be turning it around. Seider's best year was his rookie year Power is starting to take advantage of his talents and is looking to have a career year despite the 13 loss streak and has more positive +/- finishes than seider so farNobody gives two shits about a year and a half age gap between two well established NHLers in their early 20s lol.
But allow me to counter. "Well Kasper >> Cozens because age and ceiling!"
