Proposal: Detroit-Anaheim

Why are we making this deal so different? It's Fowler for Tatar+Pulk/Jurco. Boom done.

Because some of us don't see Tatar being the best fit in the West and the option to select one of two fringe NHLers as an add-on doesn't make up for the potential risk of him not being the 25-30 goal scorer he's been with DET?

I have to think it'll be tatar/nyquist +jurco/pulkinnen/frk or a 2nd. Fowler has more value than Tatar or nyquist but I don't think the difference is Sheahan.

Tatar + Sheahan + pick for Fowler + pick. That would make the most sense from Anaheim persepective. Though I'm not sure would the wings be willing to move both Tatar and Sheahan in this trade.

edit. The more I think about it, the more this makes sense. Anaheim needs 3C and a winger that can handle the puck in the offensive zone and Detroit desperately needs a top 3 D-man. Add the picks to the equation and they can make a balanced deal. Get it done :D

That's fair, but so far Tatar has been the only legit top 6 player on a cheap deal that any team has offered in a return for Fowler. And trading Fowler for picks and prospects isn't the best idea in my opinion (the original proposal). I would be happy with your offer of Tatar and AA for Fowler, but I don't think they would be.

It's just my opinion of course, but I think Tatar is probably the best proven top 6 talent we could get from the DRW for Fowler and the plus would end up being another forward prospect since we still need some.

Ducks fan here who's good with Tatar/Nyquist + Jurco/Pulkkinen. I'm amazed how mutually agreed upon this trade pairing is. It makes too much sense. The Wings have tons of wings. The Ducks are currently flightless without wings. Cam is from Michigan... Like, come on Bob and Ken.

I think Murray is holding off finalizing any deal with Fowler until he has an agreement worked out with Lindholm. I don't see a trade happening anytime soon.

It's going to be a long summer ...

i don't think anythings going down to barrie is dealt with. if he stays in col, could drive price up especially with shattenkirk off the market.

True, but we don't have to trade Fowler to the DRW. I'm just cautious when it comes to bringing over wingers from the East who've only ever played in the East. I mean, we had Hagelin () and look how successful Palms has been with NJ (:(). Maybe, just maybe, Tatar is another winger better suited for the East. In which case, we get totally screwed because it's kind of a given that Fowler is better suited for the East, his main criticism being he avoids contact.

For the record, I wouldn't be disappointed with Tatar. I just have concerns. Hence, I'd like another nice piece i.e. AA to cover the risk.

The trend is more east coast now, big physical teams are starting to add speed and skill.

He was exactly the same player in Anaheim production wise. It's not an East/West thing at least with him. He just didn't get the same sort of opportunity NJ gave him.

Idk that proven is much of a factor for Anaheim they are going to get a shot no matter what this season... we just don't have enough forwards and enough high end forward talent in our system

that is a good reason to talk with the islanders
and Fowler would feel right at home in brooklyn
ducks can get any two forwards that would help them up front and salary cap wise.
bailey, or strome , or grabo and kulemin.
with a 2nd 2017

Last time I checked, Red Wings also plays against Western conference teams.

Last 2 seasons against West:
55 games, 22+25=47 points (0.85 ppg)

Last 2 season against East:
108 games 28+26=54 points. (0.50 ppg)

I think Tatar would fit better to Western Conference. He has shined against Western teams and is pretty average against East.

Tbf, it's hard to argue with those numbers.

Tatar+ Jurco/Pulkkinen makes too much sense. Maybe throw in Ouellet/Sproul/Smith if Anaheim wants one.

Wouldn't be surprised if the reason it hasn't happened yet is that the Ducks want Mantha/AA instead of Jurco/Pulkkinen though.

Smith is not a throw in. Not sure how you gauge his value as the same as two unproven prospects? He's arguably Detroit's best all around defensemen.

And Id have no problem trading him for a pick or a bag of peanuts

Wings only have two D who can consistently breakout/transition up ice/ carry puck through neutral zone, getting rid of one of them for a bag of peanuts would really make things tough. They might not ever leave the defensive zone next year.
