there is one number that has stuck out to me for awhile

as an outsider--the fact the LAK are 5th in goals against and are not getting an invite to the big dance is the issue that needs to be addressed--When was the last time a team finished top 5 in goals against and still missed the play offs.

I realize both missed games--but Both Anze and Marian needed to get more goals. 11 and 10 goals respectively--both guys should be around 20 goals for the games they played.--with your D add 19 goals you guys are in the playoffs. Brown is a shell of his former person

With Kopitar, Marian, and Brown all signed long term--that to me could be the biggest problem if they do not bounce back. Kops cap hit is 10mill for the next 6 years

there wont be a quick fix--LAK need the players to bounce back and in this case--the sacking the coaching is the easiest thing

Its been said many ways, but in reality the Kings need a little less structure. I think the coaching staff has them over prepared. Goalie tendencies is one area I think they are over prepared. I have watched them over and over try to pick particular spots versus certain goalies and they either hit posts or miss the net entirely.

A perfect example was last Arizona game in shootout. Domingue obviously gives up goals fivehole based on where the kings were shooting, round after round they attempted to shoot fivehole. the goalie isn't a robot at some point he realizes where they are going and adapts. The Kings however couldn't adapt.

A little flair and seat of their pants hockey is what some of these guys need to snap out of it. It needs to happen sooner than later or else the young batch of rookie are going to get stifled.

Team tuned out Sutter years ago. The top players have a chance to bounce back with just about anyone else's voice behind the bench. That's just the way hockey works. Messages get stale. Systems become redundant. Relationships with authority deteriorate. The Penguins sucked right before their new voice - lifeless, uninspired hockey. Same as the Kings.

Unfortunately Dean is incapable of letting people go, so he'll hold on to Sutter until it costs them both their jobs.

You really don't have to make sweeping changes to the roster, not unless you really think that blowing it up is the only option. Team had some good stats this year despite this finish. 30 more goals from Kopitar/Gaborik/Toffoli and we're comfortably in a playoff spot. That's not necessarily all Sutter's fault, but you can fire a coach much easier than you can trade an underperforming 10 million dollar center.

I still don't know why Sutter was brought back considering this past rift with Brown. That makes zero sense to me. Just move on to a different coach. But nope. Better bring back the coach who is already clashing with your top players.

Dean needs his ****ing head examined.

Still waiting for Chicago to get tired of Quennville.

Blow it all up! Get rid of Brown, Gaborik and Kopitar in any way we can right now before they anchor us down for the next several years.

On Feb 4th, the Kings beat the Flyers 1-0 in OT, which was the 5th win of a 5 game winning streak. After that game, they were in a playoff spot, tied with Nashville, 1 point ahead of Calgary(with 2 games in hand), and 3 points ahead of St.Louis. Since that game, they're 8-12-3, with 49GF, and 65GA.

1-4 in the 5 games after the bye week.
2-5-1 since a solid win against Washington.
1-6-2 against Pacific teams.
4-7-3 against Western teams.
6-6-1 at home.
2-6-2 on the road.

Didn't. Couldn't makes it sound like they're not allowed to simply shoot in a different place, or don't have the ability to shoot in a different place, and if either one of those is true, then what a giant waste of time this has all been for everyone.

Getting rid of all three now, would anchor the team down for the next decade +.

That is unless the next CBA bails them out.

Feel bad for Iginla having to be in this situation, but this losing streak is doing wonders for our draft pick. We could get a top 10 pick as well as a high 2nd which is where our scouting staff has really excelled.

You know we'll just trade the 2nd away after a year or two. It's the 5th, 6th, and 7th picks I'll be watching to see who's going to be on the Kings in a few years. But yeah, the thought of having a fraction of a chance to win the draft lottery is more exciting than it should be.

Our rivals for the last playoff spots are all going on a tear, willing themselves to win nearly every game. There's no reason, with the skill we have have on this team, that we should be finding it so difficult to win a game.

The Kings have such a thin margin for error. When we won our last Cup in 2014, our GA was 2.05, good for 1st in the league. Our GF was 2.42, 26th out of 30. On the radio they said our goal differential was negative, -0.06, for the first time in years.

Fivehole, that shootout was maddening. The same move over and over, like the players were stuck on repeat.

I enjoy the games because I don't go in expecting the Kings to score more than one goal. I just enjoy the hockey.

Yeah the whole homer thing is bad enough when the team is winning, when they are losing it's just pathetic.

Higher ticket prices and Fox becoming unlistenable, maybe only two negative things about the cup.

I feel like Jim is a used car salesman trying to sell me a lemon.

I don't think Fox is an over the top homer, not like others. He has always been a bit on the homer-ish side, but that is understandable due to his history with the club. For the most part he has been very objective and also at times willing to call the Kings out when appropriate.

Right now I think the issue with Fox is two-fold. Bob and the parade of replacements. The poor on ice effort and results. He has been carrying the broadcasts now for quite some time due to Bob's illness. His strength has been the color guy, not PBP and having new partners I'm sure is putting strain on his comfort zone. Couple this with the Kings poor on ice results the past few seasons and it exacberbates the situation.

personally I don't know how these guys can stay on the air and not go off on a team (that employs them) when they play like crap. There have been numerous times over the decades that Fox (and Bob also) have gone public on the air and called out the team and/or players. It seems to take a LOT to get them to that point, but they have done it. To me it should be done when appropriate, its a performance based business.

Sutter needs to go - period. The message is stale and its time to bring in a new coach. Right now it looks like November/December of 2011 all over again. Just a listless and apathetic effort game after game.

Dean give him a year extension and see if he can get this turned around. Players get one year extension's to prove their value, do the same for the GM that has been struggling.

I'd go further. At the end of the Murray era, they looked helpless but in a "what do we do?" way. They still cared. This looks more like the end of the Andy Murray era where they went on an epic losing bender to finish the season like they were playing out the string not giving a ****.

The way these guys are playing, I like our chances to finish about 25th overall in standings. I can see FLA, BUF, WPG and DET overtaking the Kings. Keeping playing ****** hockey boys.

If your gonna suck, don't half ass it now.

You and I both know there are exceptions to every rule.

Their leaders aren't malcontents, and they don't play under such a stifling system that zaps the fun out of the game.

The Sutter or Keenan style of coaching doesn't work anymore. Maybe in spurts it can, but they have a shelf life.

Hopefully Dean (if he's still around) doesn't bring in another relic from the past like Terry Murray. I'd like to see what a coach like Gallant could do with this group.

I caught some of the game on the radio but missed the TV broadcast. How did Brodzinski look with Kempe and Brown?

It sounds to me like Jim Fox has run out of things to say. He's really good with the hockey analysis during stoppages and his diagrams, but not so good when there's nothing going on for the Kings, which has been often.

I cringe every time Fox says "make it happen". Make what happen? Mix it up a bit, man.

I would rather we do nothing. This team is an embarrassment as is. It will be way too humiliating if Clifford or Nolan fight and get their butts whipped, with the home crowd doing nuts and the Flames clinching a playoff spot.
