Proposal: Det-Mtl

Says the bias Habs fan.

not really being delusional. The only thing mantha has is his higher draft position (1rst vs 2nd) but one can argue lehkonen has developed better so far, he broke alfredsson shl playoff record, in points and/or goals, at just the age of 21, while mantha has struggled to produce in the A.

45 points in 60 AHL games and 11 points in 9 playoff games is not exactly struggling.

relatively to what red wings fan expect him to become and what he is now as a prospect. His first 2 seasons at the Ahl dont suggest hes a 'cant miss' prospect as some wing fans have indicated.

I think hes good prospect, his potential is top 6 or bust, but def no cant miss prospect.

Btw lehkonen has been playing vs full grown men in the shl where as mantha doesnt. So his size does help him alot in the A. it wont help him as much in the NHL tho, he needs to skate while using his size to his advantage.

Have you by chance ever watched AHL hockey? It is a men's league. not sure what the stats are but I'd assume that AHL players are bigger than SHL players.

Ok...so Mantha doesn't play against men in the AHL?

It's arguable either way.

I think all things considered right now they're pretty even. Lehkonen was projected to be a 1st rounder in his draft year but I think it was concussion issues that caused him to drop. His talent level is through the roof.

I agree with the other poster that it's 1st round vs 2nd round in this bias. (Believe me I wanted Mantha in Montreal)

It's an interesting debate to look at, I think Lehkonen & Hudon are two prospects that don't get the love they deserve whether it be from draft ranking or people just haven't seen them. They're both high end prospects. Obviously not a Matthews/Laine but definitely higher end prospects.

I can't wait until more people see Lehkonen play. They'll fall in love with him.

Ok. I gotcha.

well ahl players have a considerable amount of young players in the age b/w 20 and 26.

Here are the two teams compared.

Just a comparison of Mantha's and Lehkonen's teams and its a small sample size, but the Griffins are the bigger team.

Frolunda also had 20 players who were 26 years old or younger. Really not sure what point you are trying to make. The AHL is a bigger and more physical league than the SHL.

the SHL is known as the tougher league of the 2 for younger players cuz teams tend to rely on their older players and not young ones at the age of 21. Some young players play 5 minutes per game.

Right to bad his numbers don't bear that out, Mantha's number are far better then Lehkonen. Keep your guy we will keep ours then we shall see which one has the better career bet it wont be Lehkonen.

If you're gonna be a hockey DB scout, can't you at least be a decent hockey DB scout? I don't even know what you're writing in the first part of your post, and Lehkonen's numbers last year are easily comparable or better than Mantha's. Keep in mind that it was Lehkonen's 20 year old season, and Mantha's 21 year old season.

I wont argue with with you, but Mantha is the the better player in my mind, and yes I am biases .

Edit: Your analysis is wrong and stats of Manth are wrong.

he is the better player as of now. But I wouldnt be surprised lehkonen having a better rookie year. He has more offensive skills and skates better.

Interesting. The second thing you notice when watching Mantha is his skating. Obviously, the first thing you would notice is his 6'5 frame.

is Lehkonen a figure skater with rocket powered skates? Kidding, half kiddng. Mantha is a great skater so I'm genuinely curious

I watched mantha play, hasnt impressed me with his acceleration and agility. His speed too isnt amazing.

Lehkonen's development is a notch more surprising if we consider draft position.

Who is the better player?? feel free to take a guess.

The reality is you can't compare each other on any level as of now. They are different players, play in different league and also part of 2 way different teams in the nhl in terms of players development.

Some will give advantage to Mantha because of the size but then again, small skilled players tend to be more and more appreciated from coaches these days.

I wouldn't be suprised if Lehkonen has a better overall career but i wouldn't be suprised either if he becomes a character 3rd liner only.

Another thread where Habs fans try to convince everyone Mantha is a total bust but would be completely willing to take him off the Red Wings' hands for nothing.
