It’s all good, you’ll have Thomas and our first round pick for Larkin’s used jock strap by Friday at noon 😏
Just don’t forget, our gm is always the smartest man in the room, and he’s “tough as nails” because he doesn’t give out NMC clauses… f***ing moron…

He's made an almost seamless transition up to the top pairing with Seider. Great chemistry there.

I was starting to worry he was thinking of testing free agency, but I think he knew the Wings would value him more than anyone else. Good deal.

I'm sure that he left money on the table.

He's 26, has good size, is very fast, good in his own zone and can complement a solid puckmover well. If he went to FA I wouldn't have been surprised to see a 3 or 4 year 4 million AAV contract for him.

Makes sense i guess. He's basically earned all the money that Chiarot was supposed to. If you've got a guy who plays well with your young #1D, it's entirely reasonable to try to get him locked up to a few years at a reasonable rate, before he establishes his value by continuing to play there for more seasons.

Very, very happy with this signing. He & Maatta have been our best defenders this season overall. They don’t have the talent of Seider or Hronek, but they’re incredibly consistent.

This does create quite the log-jam on defence next season. Best case scenario is that someone is willing to take Chiarot with some salary retained, or Yzerman just bites the bullet and admits that the Chiarot experiment is a disaster, and buys him out.

Most likely: Chiarot becomes Arizona bait, because that's what always happens.

Perfect timing after his game against Ottawa. Guy blocked 7 shots, took a HUGE hit and several other smaller ones, threw a couple himself, and didn't miss a single shift. Ended the night +1 in a 6-2 loss.

Side note, what an amazing trade that was for Detroit.
This has text complimenting Walman but reads like you're jerking off your own team

Heard chiarot can play the right side? Havent seen him do so on DRW but saw he played both sides before he signed

definitely left money on the table.

This contract is like an extended bridge deal for his eventual big payday. I honestly was expecting around 6 million because of his advanced stats and visual playing style against the better players recently.

Edvinsson and Wallinder also play both sides, so I think that is probably a part of their thought process.

Happy for Walman, he has been great with Seider.

Yzerman will have to think about what he wants to do moving forward, but to actually put that out there is a problem we haven't had in over a decade on the back-end so that is a good sign in and of itself.
