And those aren't just minute munching 20 minutes. Paired with Seider those are the toughest minutes available.I thought once they resigned Maatta, they'd let Walman walk. I didn't anticipate him getting this kind of deal on the strength of 40 games, but they've been 40 really good games. New style defensive defenseman with great skating and high compete. 30 point upside isn't unreasonable. They really like him in all situations. The corner he turned this season was being tidy in his own zone and reliable enough to play with the minutes eaters at even strength. I don't think this deal can go "bad" in the traditional sense. It's a little higher because Walman is a little older with less team control, but this is around the going rate for a 4th or 5th. Interesting somewhat because he really picked himself up off the mat starting the year injured and battling back not only into the lineup, but into 20 minutes per night.
The hardest guys to move are the guys you just outbid everyone on in UFA.Or maybe it does?
Cool. Now go read the last two words again. The hardest guys to move are the guys you just outbid everyone on in UFA.
So Copp and Chiarot are staying put.
We need chartsAnd other seasons (although he definitely wasn't as great as he has been this season - he was still a solid #5 at worst)
Shit deal.

Not to mention Detroit could easily trade him with $1.5M - $2M retained. Somebody might find some value in Chiarot around $3M.You just admitted you can't do maths... And just assume every UFA contract is the same.
Go neg somewhere else.
Slightly under for a 23 man roster.Good deal for Detroit. That guy got drilled with so many shots and hits that hurt last night and kept on going. Probably his reward lol
Anyone thinking it's an overpayment should look at the term and fact it's probably around league average dollars.
It’s pricey for a third pairing D, but since Walman got promoted to Seider’s pairing it’s been one of the best in the league.Good deal for Detroit. That guy got drilled with so many shots and hits that hurt last night and kept on going. Probably his reward lol

I dunno seems like a good value for a very solid #4 Dman in todays market.I know he's playing well, but that's quite a jump.
We got fleecedAnd to think he was a throw-in for Leddy last year. They still have the Blues 2nd and Sundqvist from that deal.
pretty sure he signed before the game started. which is great because I am not sure if he was able to sign anything after the game with those pucks to the arms.He was a warrior for Detroit last night. That game alone earned him more $$$$
Between De La Rose for Fabbri, a 3rd for Husso, and Leddy for Sundqvist/Walman/2nd, it’s incredible that STL fans haven’t petitioned to mandate Armstrong blocking Yzerman’s number. We got fleeced
It’s all good, you’ll have Thomas and our first round pick for Larkin’s used jock strap by Friday at noonBetween De La Rose for Fabbri, a 3rd for Husso, and Leddy for Sundqvist/Walman/2nd, it’s incredible that STL fans haven’t petitioned to mandate Armstrong blocking Yzerman’s number.
Based on the trades, I’m guessing Yzerman already has photos of Armstrong either wearing or sniffing somebody else’s jock strap. It’s all good, you’ll have Thomas and our first round pick for Larkin’s used jock strap by Friday at noon
