Walman cashes in on the contract year before going to UFA. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a decent player. Just not 3 years, $10.2 million decent, even given the oft-touted accomplishments this season.

wheels / ruggedness / big shot / hustles / great attitude , we got real lucky to get him out of nowhere . im thinking maybe coach bougner has been big part of him i guess 'breaking out' because hroneks also improved since the boogey man arrived . and jake plays a competitive fired up game with his heart in it . right now jake has made for seiders best partner creating a scrappy duo . important stabilizing add for red wings

He’s the breakout player of the season for my money. Everything finally caught up with his skating. He’s been excellent. Playing with Seider helps but I’d say he’s clearly, clearly been a really good top four defenseman this year and there’s little about what he’s doing that is unsustainable. He’s always had the mobility and skill set to be good.
