Bernier's rights since he's a UFA. Unless the Canes have a deal looked up already with him

I think Detroit was close to the 50 contract limit. Bernier may have been thrown in simply for that reason.

Carolina turned a guy that they very well could’ve lost for nothing into a high 3rd and Bernier. I bet Bernier is ready to sign soon, but we’ll see.
