Despite the Leafs horrendous losing streak, Morgan Rielly continues to impress

Wow, just wow

I agree, I doubt he ever wins a Norris(chances are slim to one). However, I definitely think he can be a legit #1 d-man in a few years.

not a Leaf fan but I really like the kid. But the typical overreaction by some Leaf fans makes one laugh.

Ekblad will won one someday , apparently the Leaf poster hasn't heard of him

You have to factor in that most rational Leafs fans don't think that way. It's the usual delusional Leafs fans who expect those kinds of results, especially this early.

And the delusional Ones are in minority, 10%.

Probably the biggest reason to fire Carlyle was to make sure the young D get developed properly

 Funny enough, that has actually been the case since Carlyle got fired. Only positive to take since Horachek was named interim.

Though, I don't believe that was the sole reason Carlyle was fired. :)

Rielly just continues to play great. Reminds me a lot about Gardiner down the stretch last year. In both situations they just seem to be in that mode where the puck finds them all over the ice, and they just take off and see opportunities everywhere. Very fun to watch.

I believe the main reason for the sacking of Carlyle was so that the spotlight would be fully on the players. There are no more excuses, nothing else to hide behind.

Sad thing is that there are still Leafs fans who prefer to blame it all on the current coach.

How dare he be excited about Rielly just because Ekblad looks to have a better future!

He's really good. Will continue to get better.

Between the top prospect the Leafs will draft this year, and Rielly, Nylander, Kadri, and JVR... I have faith the rebuild wont take as long as people think. Plus Brown, Johnson, and Gauthier are all probably gonna be in the NHL eventually.

If management doesn't pull a Burke that is... Please rebuild the right way...

Defense is looking a lot better with Phaneuf going down, how in 7 hell did this guy get the contract he did?

Your hate for Dion is distorting your vision.
Yes, Dion should be traded ASAP, but to say our D is a lot better without him is laughable

reportably Rielly and JVR are two players that leafs mangament has told other teams they won't trade. Rielly is going to continue to get better and he is determined and players with heart and doesn't have a ego.

i agree just cause ekblad is younger and scoring more goals that Rielly did in his rookie season people think ekblad is going to have a better . Rielly might of scored more goals last season if he wasn't a healthy scratch mutiple times for no logical reason.

He must be a real game changer if his great play coincides with the leafs losing 17 of 20 games.

Good logic, I shouldn't need to explain to you why it's actually terrible logic and hilariously short sighted. At least you thought you were clever.

Reilly and Nylander have to be the most overrated players on HF neither of them have done anything to REALLY stand out

The thought is completely absurd until it actually happens, and then the ones who called it earlier are just forgotten. I mean, I remember being this skeptical with Subban and definitely with Karlsson.

The guy didn't just dominate ONE shif . He is playing amazing so give it a rest

The poster made the comment directly after the shift he had on the freaking pp man. Its ok , drink the koolaid bro. All Im saying is its very premature to say Rielly will win a Norris based on such a small sample size. He looks very good out there, but coach seems to be just letting him run with the puck . many times needing a forward to fall back and cover up for him.

It seems its an all or nothing scenario when your team has lost so many games , and scoring has virtually become extinct. They have nothing to lose by letting him play like a rover and not worry too much about being defensively responsible.

Kessel gets so much flak for not paying attention to defensive detail, but Rielly gets a pass on it.

And I'll rest when I choose , son

It was 4 on 4 in overtime man. If you had watched him, defence has been a strength in Rielly's game. One of his main strengths is hockey IQ, knowing when to rush and when to stay back. The fact that you think he just runs all over the place without a defensive conscience like Karlsson proves you know very little about his game other than what you can get from the highlights, which apparently you couldn't even read accurately either.

Yeah like one player decides the fate of the team.

I mean how dare the Penguins finish 2nd last the year Crosby put up around 100 points in his rookie season.

And man, that OEL guy must be such a crappy top defender that his great play hasn't helped Coyotes out of the bottom 5 place yet.

Maybe not yet but they are so young and Rielly is just starting to get comfortable to the NHL game and showing big things recently.

No one i saying they are world beaters but its nice to see some positives from young blue-chippers like Rielly who are likely to stay with the club going forward.

bet he'd impress you if he was a sen

I don't think a leaf fan of all people should suggest that I'm biased. If you have not seen my posts about Kessel you would know he's one of my favorite players. So no he would not impress me if he was a Senator, Karlsson and Ceci do that for me already.
