There was a 31 point gap in the standings between the two teams this past season.....
True, but that has mothing to do with what I said.

There were a lot of reasons they struggled last year, very little of it to do with the quality of their players.

Regular season.

So far looks like Lou is sticking to his strategy - well balanced blue collar lunchpail team. They will need to make the playoffs, when the real hockey starts, but if they do best to take them seriously.

Albeit Trotz is gone. They aren't our biggest worry. But I bet it's a lot of fun for their fans when they make the cut.

Starting the season on something like a 17-game road trip is a bit rough. Also, didn’t they get slammed with covid first and the league forced them to play though it? Every other team got to cancel games.

I started looking at their team pages when they signed Komarov, who I really enjoyed (I've done the same with other ex-Leafs). Except for their (understandable) anger at Tavares for how he left, and a bit at Toronto because he came here, they are a pretty good bunch of knowledgeable posters, and the hockey has been very entertaining.

Kadri has ruined four playoffs series for his team. He is definition of F. Three suspensions and meltdown against Dallas. One hat trick doesn't change that.
And Kerfoot single handidly lost the last 2 playoffs this year and the year before. So whats your point?

Mostly, sure. Though might be more accurate to say other people's tanking. But it's not like Dubas has gone all in and now we're going scorched earth or anything. We're still a top contender and are well positioned to be a top contender for years to come, that's all I'm saying.

Trading every one of your first round picks since 2019 ( while getting one back) is about as all in and scorched earth as you can get. Doing this and still having to take gambles on a top 6 LW, as well as goaltending, being unable to find a partner for Reilly and having what looks to be a tire fire bottom 6 isn't really great management

Additionally our bright future ends in two years if Matthews leaves

Actually you went over there and pretended you were an Isles fan and bashed the Leafs and lied about leafs fans.

Such nonsense in this post about "opposite approaches." Dubas and Lou have both been trying to win. We've given up a couple firsts and a bunch of other draft picks trying to win, just like Lou. The only reason our team is "better set up for the future" under Dubas is because of players he inherited from Lou! What a twisted and intellectually dishonest argument.

There are no current Leafs inherited from Lou.

We're in the top group of cup contenders right after Colorado for the coming season, our best players are just entering their prime and we still have most of our draft picks in the coming years, including all our first rounders (which makes us a rarity among the top teams). That doesn't seem like scorched earth to me, if it does to you then I guess we just see things differently.

LOL Matthews leaving. Seriously dude, if that's near the top of your list of worries then we are in very good shape indeed. :)

I haven't pretended or lied about anything.

I've been clear, on all of the many team pages I've visited over the years (not just of HF) that I am a Leafs fan first and foremost, a hockey fan generally, and also, at various times and to varying degrees, a fan of other teams and/or players.

The opposite results, to clarify, have been that the Islanders have won 6 playoff rounds ("a few" in your words) compared to our 0, when Lou took over a team that looked to be on the decline (losing Tavares), and Dubas took over pretty much the best possible situation a GM could take over. While Islanders fans have gotten to enjoy extended playoff runs under Lou, we've gotten to enjoy reading repetitive nonsense about us being a top team in magical fairy land.
The losers Lou and Dubas both inherited everything.

Everything they did on their own has been a pile of junk but Lou gets the win because he at least brought in Andersen to counter how bad the defence was.

Dubas is riding on Knies being a hit to save himself on work he gets full credit.

No, you lied to Isles fans about what you were, you lied about what leafs fans said while on the Isles board, and lied to leafs fans here about what you did.

is liljegren a joke to you

Ha fair. Lou did give us Lilly.

Not true at all, but we've been through this all before, and you won't change your opinion and I don't seem to be able to convince you of the truth, so let's drop it.

are you like some kind of wizard or something. what are you hiding from us jamason.

Yer a wizard, Jamason - Hagrid.
Not hiding anything, but I see no point in continuing a futile exchange.

And ixnay on the izardway - my wife doesn't know. :sarcasm:

Good times.
