I wish the world worked that way. There isn't a person outside of my wife and kiddos that know I'm on anti-depressants for anxiety and moderate depression....well now everyone on this board knows. lol.

It's not an easy thing to talk about and it's not something that people often want others knowing about. Nor is it anyone else's business.

It's a shittything. My meds tire me out so much if I go off them and then go back on them again. They're brilliant if taken consistently but I also have sleep apnea and struggle with diverticulitis so my stress goes through the roof being tired and irritable amplifies th depression and anxiety. It's not poor me but sometimes people need to walk a mile. I could do more to alleviate things but it can just snowball sometimes and it's bloody scary.

I hope JT returns when he's ready and gets back to being a top end player.

Yep. He was at Burnaby winter club yesterday skating which is weird , why not at Rog?

Why were you skulking around watching him?

Frankly there are still a lot of questions and Rutherford's "old man shaking fist at cloud" move is not going to make them go away.

Burnout is understandable but some idea of what lead to that burnout would probably be helpful. Or not! Obviously Miller is entitled to his privacy but at the end of the day he is an entertainer in the public eye and you can't help people wondering if they're hiding something. Especially since they are behaving like they are hiding something.

Anyways, super odd situation, I can't think of another time a player has left a team for this length of time without at least SOME explanation given.
I can tell you that most of the time, it's when a player enters the players assistance program. That's the tough guy way of dealing with their issues.

just for a dose of real talk and how things can snowball unexpectedly, been battling a terrible head cold (my daughter brough a real doozie home daycare) for the last week and i've been so focused on the Tylenol/Advil/Cough Syrup routine to manage unpleasant symptoms that I forgot to take my regular anti-anxiety med for 2, probably 3 days.

Which causes the usual "miss dosed" symptoms but also causes me to fixate on every thing wrong with me, things i would normally let go and do a much better job ignoring are now driving me crazy and keeping me awake all night.

Look at at us with real talk! My journey started after Covid induced Pericarditis. Started getting panic attacks any time I had any sort of discomfort in my chest or arm (i.e. If i was at the gym and worked shoulders or chest that recovery pain could set me off). 2 ER trips because "I was having a heart attack" and avoiding a family vacation because I was scared to do anything made me get help.

I have no idea what happened. But one of the more likely scenarios I could envisage is that JT plays with emotion, heart of sleeve, on the edge, and he went over it; maybe by yelling at coaches or teammates or whatever. I’ve done it when I was younger in a stressful job. It happens. And some weeks away to reset and refocus is exactly what is needed.

Not sure if this qualifies as mental health or not. But if so, I’m sure JT embarrassed and I’m sure the team understands. That’s what it’s like with an emotional leader. There’s highs and lows. I’m sure he’ll come back like the boss he is.

You want ads on jerseys, helmets, and rampant gambling? You better disclose every hangnail and hemorrhoid. No more p***yfooting around with upper/lower body injuries or personal reasons. Cant have your cake and eat it too NHL.

This message was brought to you to say f*** the NHL and we love you Miller

wild entitlement

he's a hockey player. you watch him play hockey. that's it. their explanation is 'personal reasons'. that's it.

the only thing odd is one hearing "personal" then believing them have some wild right to hear about it. and there's a ton of activity w/o explanation

We're now learning that one of the reasons Miller took some time away was the he's been nursing a serious arm injury, that hasn't gotten much better since training camp. And trying to play through it, was messing with his mind and confidence.

If that's even partially the reason, it's a shame they didn't just shut him down earlier. You respect guys trying to play through lingering injuries, but sometimes fans don't realize that a guy is playing hurt--and think it's strictly a lack of will or effort.

Well maybe one of his teammates should have slashed him just to make sure that it's not just mental.

Where does the line go, where it is none of our business?

As an example Pettersson's well documented knee injury is everyone's business. His mental side too has been allowed to be criticized to no end here and I've not seen anyone make a stand like this for him...
This was "well documented and everyone's business"??

Wasn't it just a bunch of speculation until 40 disclosed it at the EOTY presser himself?
Then the first anybody heard of it in the context of this season was when he said he "worked around it"?

Do you see any difference between injury disclosure and mental health or personal life disclosure?

Are you willing to accept the fact that the timing and optics of the Pettersson contract extension and then subsequent play might create heightened agitation and contempt vs Miller and his current situation?

One of the things that sticks in my memory is Tocchet asking the “leadership” group to help Petey play stronger. I could see that leading to some conflict.
Do you have the source for this i don't remember it being so specific?

Do you have a source for this..?..I recall him taking a brutal slash on the opening face off vs the Flyers early in the season (this affected his ability to take draws).

I remember this.

It was Elliotte Friedman and 32 thoughts.

Question for you PuckMunchkin

Lets say you work a customer facing job and you had a mental breakdown, would you want your employer or fellow employees telling customers why you were away from work? I know i sure wouldnt appreciate that.
it could be a number of reasons a death in the family, injurys that needed to heal of that ilk. nothing henious like drug addiciton/drinking. people dont need to know/be nosy what goes on in a day in a life of persons life. its private for a reason.
