Apparently Chicago is asking for the moon. Not willing to do that especially since he's entering his final year of his contract

A 24-year-old sniper who will be a RFA next summer, with two 40+ goal seasons, plus he scored 32 goals in 52 games in a shortened season. There really is no reason for Chicago to move him unless they’re blown away by an offer built around youth. The Kings have the assets, but is it worth it and is it the right time to pull the trigger on such a trade?

He is a great player, a gamebreaker we need. Saying that he’s another small body and his actual seller for next year is $9 million. Does that not mean his qualifying offer for the year after that has to start at 9,000,000+?

Kinda sounds like they're playing the same game AZ is with Chychrun.

"we're not actually interested in moving him but give us your best shot" is some transparent ass bullshit lol

In my opinion it is not worth it and it is not the right time to pull the trigger on such a trade

From a salary-cap perspective, the Blackhawks also aren’t in a place where they want to commit long-term to a player. Davidson is already saddled with Jones’ $9.5 million cap hit for the next eight seasons. As much as Davidson likes Jones as a player, that’s not how he would have preferred to begin this rebuild. DeBrincat has a qualifying offer of $9 million after the 2022-23 season. That’s probably where the number starts for a short- or long-term extension, especially if it eats into any of his unrestricted free-agent seasons. Davidson doesn’t want to have nearly $20 million in cap space devoted to two players this early into the rebuild. He’d rather have cap and roster flexibility at this stage.

Interested sure, but not enough to do a deal. This team isn't ready, they need to grow up more as opposed to gunning for the quick upgrade. The ask is a bit much for a year left on the contract. I would need an extension agreed upon, otherwise, it's another Lucic/Ben Bishop/Sekera deal where we get hosed again and look stupid/desperate in the process. If RB does this, he's a fool without conditions of an extension. Prospect sure, resign then talk about picks in the deal, but no way to front load that and give the future away.

Is dedicating 9M+ (assuming we re-sign him) to a small one dimensional winger a winning formula?

Very interested in him, but he's such an exceptional player that gauging our franchise and then having to pay him after the first year is pretty steep. He's a great age for this team, but its going to take a lot. Hawks would be stupid to not ask for Byfield and a 1st as the starting point and I'm just not interested

I don't see a deal to be had here, Chicago will ask for the farm, and rightfully so. For me, it's actually the timing and the money. Not that Cat isn't worth it, but we have to see what guys are going to turn into before making a big commitment like this.

Bit of a gamble for Chicago as well but I think they want to get bigger + skill and Sol is probably right on the price. Either Byfield/Bjornfot/first or Turcotte/Clarke/First. Either way it’s going to be steep.

your irrational hate for Byfield is approaching your vendetta for Quick.
Seems like he values him by including him in a deal for one of the best u-25 goal-scorers in the league?

Looking at some of the other proposals in this thread I am surprised this one was the one you replied to. This is actually the most realistic trade offer in this thread so far. I think BWC wanted to much and some of the proposals by our fans are cringe worthy.
