I'd wager the return would be something like a mid - late first, decent prospect, a 2nd or 3rd, and maybe a fodder chip?
I imagine the sens want to downgrade, but a player with term and futures to then package with other futures and upgrade somewhere else, maybe goalie going after Hart, or Gibson ?

I wonder if Detroit is a good fit. He's from Michigan, their top 6 RW are Perron and Raymond. One older and still doing it, and one younger and high potential. It would allow Det to move Perron to the 3rd line and balance out their lines better.

I also see LA as a good partner, Iafalo and Kempe are their top RW. Iafalo is really a 3 RW. Kempe very good would be a great 2 RW. Similar to Det, it bolsters their depth.

Both Detroit and LA have lots of picks / futures to make a deal with.

As an Oilers fan, I would make the following proposal:

Yamer for DeBrincat… that‘s basically a wash, similar size and skill… Yamer has a bit more teamfriendly contract and plays with more grit… morever, mcdavid would be happy if his jrs buddy is back on his wing.

If Ottawa wants some size, we can give them Foegele on top for a 2nd rounder.
That’s a satire post right, Yammer is not more grittier, DBC about 50 % more hits and a fight or 2.
Would need to be Evander Kane.
You think people haven’t seen Yammer play or something.

Ottawa won't trade him within the division. Are you nuts?

An X factor in all of this is Dorion's status as an NHL GM. With new ownership arriving very soon, it can be expected new senior management will be place. This puts him on the spot. This likely means a very good start to the season is required. Debrincat helps that. His current trade value does not.

Have him back, hopefully him and Norris click, certainly has to be better than Pinto and he ramps back up the points. That gives him a lot more value at the trade deadline, or it pushes Ottawa into the playoffs and Dorion may survive to GM another year.

If Dorion trades him for a 20th overall and the team starts like last year, he's not making it to Christmas.

Would move him in a hockey deal for a player of similar ability or to plug two holes on the roster. I hope we're not/don't think we're looking at picks and prospects.

Why not? depends on value. This isn't Tkachuk dude. He had 66 pts last year.

His reputation is better than his play

Yzerman isn't one to overpay for players, and looking at who "might" be available from the Wings, I'm not sure Ottawa would be interested in what they have to offer.

I don't think the Sens would even consider Zadina (honestly I don't think Dorion would pick Zadina up off waivers). Doubt they'd want Fabbri. And Kubalik and Perron are upcoming UFAs, so you might as well just hang onto ADB as a rental/move him at the deadline.

I could see them look at something like Rasmussen + 17OA, but like I said, doubt Yzerman is up for that.

I doubt there's a fit.

There's way better options out there in the West. Ottawa doesn't have to strengthen teams who they are directly competing with.
If I'm Ottawa I'm targeting guys like Villardi, McCann, Terry for example.
Fair enough, point was Detroit has a crap ton of draft picks and some nice prospects / young players.

I don't see LA or Seattle moving a center for a winger. Maybe you pry Vilardi as he's playing alot of wing.

Don't think Anaheim moves Terry. He's a part of their core

If any one of Bura, Bjork, McCann, or Schwartz would waive from the Kraken. I'd do Debrincat for one of them, Sprong, and a conditional 2024 1st rounder (If Kraken make CF).

I think Ottawa would do Debrincat for McCann straight up. But why would Seattle?

No way the Kraken do that trade to get a player that is a me player for team players,no way!Besides the Cat is going to ask for way too much, which will be too Rich for GMFrancis and co!

Problem is that's alot of average volume for a guy who, as much as I think is over rated, has scored 40 twice and is only 25. On LA he would thrive.

Turcotte is a worry as he hasn't lived up to expectations and has had concussion issues. I know Fagemo is highly touted but still hasn't proven he can live up to that in the NHL, not even a ppg yet in the AHL (not bashing him just saying still an unknown).

Moore and walker are good veterans but not needle movers but would help Ottawa for sure. I think if the you sub out Turcotte for either Vilardi or Kaliyev there's a deal there.

Debrincat for

Vilardi/Kaliyev (more certainty you have an NHL player from a younger player and maybe more than they've shown in LA)
Moore (adds veteran depth)
Fagemo (upside but risk given still has to develop)
