My point that went over peoples heads was that a player that dominates NCAA, QMJHL, AUS, OHL, Etc doesn’t mean they translate to the NHL. No way would the Senators swap Debrincat for Faber. I think his peak potential is a Noah Hanifin type
& Minnesota wouldn't ever

Yes they would in a heartbeat there’s zero Debate there they’d buy out 4 or 5 players to make the cap work if the absolutely needed to. Debrincat has just way to much value to not take that deal. That’s like hating rolls Royce’s and loving your 2010 dodge charger but even though you can’t afford the insurance/maintenance on a rolls Royce you still take the rolls Royce in a trade for the sole purpose of resale value.

Debrincat's shooting % will rebound.

Look at his history:

two good seasons (18,19)
one poor season (2020)
two good seasons (21,22)
one poor season (2023)

Look for his shooting % to jump back up to 15%+ next season

Cat is awesome. Just sign him.
I agree with re-signing him. Any star player that actually wants to play and live in Ottawa... That's a rare and unique individual that is a must sign. Its like the stars aligned or something.

He was really dominant at times this season on both sides of the ice. He went from playing with kane to rookie pinto and batherson, and bath had a really off season (hc investigation concerns maybe?)

All three of those guys will bounce back just fine. Sign him at a discount now after a modest year and we won't regret it.

No they wouldn't. They traded fiala to get Minnesota own brodin. Do your freaking research. Minnesota players, born Don't get traded. And they wouldn't buy out anymore players. Since you are trolling. They haven't traded a 1st or top prospect or prospect for 1 year rentals or any players who could be hard to resign

Bratt is the only player I'd be remotely interested in trading 1-for-1 realistically, and that's only if DeBrincat doesn't want to re-sign in Ottawa.

DeBrincat has been better than his point totals suggest IMO

Det sends 2023 1st Rounder (17OA right now) + kubalik for debrincat and sign him to 8x7.8
No.
If it's not a prearranged signing, he's not getting crap out of detroit. That 1st will still be here 3+ years from now, as it stands, if cat pushes it, Det would have to push the 9m QO and only get 1 year. Detroit doesn't need rentals and honestly, they don't need him even if he were to sign. We literally just traded Bert who was about the same age and wanted too much, do think Yzerman is going to put himself back into the same jam and give up assets for it?

At times, I would agree. But he has definitely picked up some easy points as well.

If you're saying he is better than his point totals suggest, that I would probably agree with. And he is definitely better than he's been for most of this year.

Seem you missed the prearranged signing mentioned in the 15, 20 words or so that you just responded to

Yzerman has literally said he would look at trading some picks for players who fit the core and he’s from Michigan lol. If you think Debrincat isn’t worth a mid 1st then you undervalue him here

Likely Debrincat + a 3rd for Jake Guentzel. Debrincat was amazing alongside Kane and so we can assume he'll be great with Crosby.

Cat doesn't strike me as the type of player Yzerman trades for.

DeBrincat is going to score 40+ again next year - guy gets way too many chances, hit way too many posts etc etc to not pot an additional 10-15 goals.

Ottawa just needs to sign him to a longterm deal and move forward.

Yes, hopefully the cap will go above $83.5 m making this an easier decision. If it stays at $83.5 m, signing Debrincat's large contract will be at the expense of using additional cap budget to get another goaltender and bottom half of the roster depth.
