Someone on the live game thread mentioned Rooney recently scored a breakaway goal and on a penalty shot so I think that might have been a factor.

I think Georgiev deserves at least a few votes for exceeding expectations and not sinking the ship.

Not for lack of trying lol. Should’ve stopped the 3rd goal, that puck needs to be smothered.

Then his 3 straight 5 hole goals against in the shootout was LOL worthy. I’m shocked the rest of the Devils players didn’t go 5 hole as well.

I'd still like to know why the worst skater on the team in Ryan Reaves was on the ice with a few minutes to go when we're up by one. Rooney - great. Goodrow - great. Reaves - why? WHY?

Reaves did nothing wrong. He is actually a very smart player.

That was low key one of the worst goaltended shootouts I've ever seen. I feel like between the Ottawa and Devils games the key for Georgiev to get the win is injuring the opponent's starting goalie.

A shootout win with Georgiev is a miracle. I only watched from the 3rd period onwards, and he was ok in regulation and OT.

Nice to see Kakko FINALY get some results.

That was a filthy game.

Yeah the eye test continues to be good for Kakko as well.

Strome and Panarin had really REALLY strong games.

They didn't end up on the score sheet but they were engaged from the get go.
Strome was great on the forecheck.
Panarin looks like a Selke candidate
Kakko after fumbling grade A opportunities and chances, finally buries it.

Might be one of Fox's worst games defensively.

Kakko was one of the best players on the ice tonight. Hopefully he can carry that play forward.

Hopefully Blais’ injury isn’t serious but it did not look good.

Zibanejad has been atrocious in basically every aspect of the game this season. His stats are there because of his all situation usage but man he looks horrible to the eye test. Hesitating, fumbling pucks, losing the puck Bc of poor stick handling, falling down all over the place, fanning on shots, whiffing on everything. Man he just looks horrible.

Glad Georgiev got the win but he really needs to be better. That game should’ve been won in regulation. Dude is a headcase. And his 5 hole would make Marty Biron blush.

Sounds like another Typical Georgiev effort in net. Just looking at the box score, I see he gave up the game tying goal in regulation.
I’m shocked he actually won it the shoot out. The devils must have missed the net a lot.
Don’t know how/why much longer they are going to go on before a change is made on a back up tender.
Just rolling with the flow and keeping Geo In is going to bite this team in the ass mid season or so.mark my words

Like most teams, the Rangers regularly practice shootouts. The coaches know who can and can’t perform. Kreider had all of one attempts in his career before tonight. What does that tell you?

I thought the Rangers played pretty well but I was definitely impressed with the Devils. They are not the shithole we are used to seeing. Nice balance on their lines and their defense moved the puck well. What they lack is star power.

I still think Zibanejad doing his globetrotters shit with Kakko tilting the ice on his wing is a perfect match.

All in all, I can't say I'm disappointed with Kakko this year. Frustrated yes, but that's different.

I hope he really gets it going. Laf too. We all need it.
