I'm saying that Reaves was acquired specifically to avenge and/or prevent incidents like Subban's latest.

I know this to be true because lots of fans whined that we needed a player like him after the Wilson incident and were ecstatic when we got him.

I also know this to be true because Reaves has said so.

The hit on Blais is just another incident where there was no response. Personally, I don't care, but it’s funny that things are no different, now. Winning makes it a non-issue.

What exactly is this mythological deterrence if it's still happening?

Reaves is a great personality, which is good for the locker room. He also moves like he's skating in slush.

I doubt Wilson pulls the Panarin Rag doll if this is our roster last year.
Your not going to stop every cheap shot no matter what but there’s a big difference how far things get escalated according to the personnel.
My biggest gripe is the contact made with shesty. That’s your meal ticket.
Whether it’s accidental contact or not, that’s got to have a response, and not just from Reaves/Blais. Everyone had to take that as an offense no matter whose on the ice.
I think you see a noticeable improvement from this year to last in that department but it still has to be better.

Just finished watching game. I think we’re starting to Gel as a team more. Some guys still aren’t playing up to snuff, but the overall team effort is there.
The more these guys play and practice together, the better this team is going to be. Panarin is looking better. Zibby isn’t there yet, kakko was in beast mode.
Overall, I like the effort. It was missing last season where everything was vanilla. This team has more emotion.
Still want strome gone, but this was his best game of the season. Good assist on kakkos goal, and big goal in the shootout.
Once Lafs skating gets better, he’s going to be a damn good winger. All things considering, I’m happy where they are at.

—side note, the devils are going to be a problem in the next year and a half 2 years. Their young guys don’t quit, and they’ve got a tight talented group of kids. Once Hughes puts some weight on and matures a bit, he’s gonna headline a pretty relentless line up. Holtz/Mercer/Bratt/Sharengovich/wood/Smith etc. these kids can play.
Blackwood isn’t bad in net either.
Add a more mature Hughes and a healthy Wood to last nights line up and the Devils aren’t an easy win anymore.
Getting Hamilton and Graves was big for them. Once they replace Subban and his cap hit, and bring up Bahl/ the Russian D they drafted, and Luke Hughes and the future is bright for sure

Kid gets some confidence back

Media continues to ask him about his struggles.
Id kinda like to just not have him and Kakko in front of the mic at this point personally. I know they are trying to give them some limelight but maybe wait until things are going better for them consistently
 
Say what you want about Strome but he's played back to back solid games on both sides of the puck this weekend.

True. Have to give him credit when he plays well if I’m going to ride him when he sucks.
But this is where strome excels, putting up point against bad/young inexperienced teams

Its not just points, he was backchecking hard, quick on the forecheck and was a good f3 when it was his option, there's so much negativity about his play nobody actually watches him play a whole game anymore they just clip any mistake.

I love Adam Fox. He's really special. But Brian Leetch was explosive in a way that Adam Fox isn't. They may be equally as creative and effective out there. But Leetch had more Makar to his game than Fox does. If I needed to win game 7 of the Cup Finals and could only choose one, I still go Leetch. But Fox is right there, just below.

Another thing everyone should consider the kakko goal thst took out Blackwood the game winner because I promise you Blackwood wasn’t going to give up 4 breakaway goals on 7 attempts

Georgie was lucky the devils had a goalie even worse than him on breakaways.

If Fox wins a Cup with the Rangers and is awarded the Conn Smythe, I'd put him right there with Leetch. If Fox had skated to the Devil's bench last night, pulled Subban onto the ice and pummeled him into submission, I'd put him WAY ahead of Leetch. If Leetch had a chink in his armor, it was that he didn't stick up for himself or Beukeboom enough. I get it, that wasn't his game. It doesn't mean I had to like it.
 
TBH this was Panarin's 'most complete' game that I can remember watching.

He looked like Mark Stone and Kucherov combined

Georgiev did better in the SO than I expected and thats saying something because he literally played the Hamilton opp into a goal.

I dunno. I hope never. I'd rather go with Wilson sucks. Despite PK's shenanigans as a Devil, I've always been fond of him.
 
great job by Goodrow trying to run over that random Devil at the end of regulation. It's maybe better that the guy ducked because a serious injury may have occurred, but the message was still delivered: if Subban is trying to injure a Ranger when he gets the chance then all of his teammates are in play, too.

The Subban situation is crying out for some old time justice. I remember when Bryan Marchment was running around taking out knees. Lindros when he was still a Flyer in a game I was watching just missed taking out his knee and it was definitely on purpose. Psycho Marchment looked like he was going to cry, like he was some innocent kid. It was finally Jason Allison who did Mush's knee. lol

Subban's act this season needs a little on ice criticism. It would be great if he becomes a target out there every night. Proactive self defense - get him or a teammate. That's the only way to stop him.
