I think people had just way too high expectations of PLD. The trade was never about to get better player than Laine, but to fix the age old issue about missing 2C. This season has been disappointment for both of said players, though injuries do also play a role about that.

PLD will bounce back next season, but it would be foolish to expect him to be a proper 1C. And with Maurice that doesn't matter as he will play 1 top line system no matter what.

PLD is injured (my speculation, but that is what I believe - probably a groin, like Wheeler), so he should be much, much better next season once he's healed up.

This may surprise you, but stats don't always tell the whole story. Stats, maybe you've heard this one before, can be deceiving. Three of the goals yesterday are on the Jets' defence. And even on Suzuki's goal, where Hellebuyck was rather weak, what was the Jets defenceman doing? He neither stopped the cross-crease pass nor took the man. The very definition of useless pylon. So before you blame Hellebuyck, I feel that defence needs to be chewed out properly for its abysmal performance in this series.

Thanks but I’ll stick with Helly has sucked against the Habs, he’s turned into his evil twin Hellysuck!
