get dean Lombardi in here. Guy had the nutsack to move his young guys for impact players now. What sunk him was his loyalty to those impact guys after winning cups

You got some quality young assets you can flip for pretty good vets without NTCs or NMCs. You just gotta give up this ridiculous notion that you will cultivate a core of youth that will gel into some kind of Cup winning dynasty. This plan has failed for 13 years through 3 GMs already. Give it up already
There actually aren’t that many players with clauses that get moved at all each year. And the ones that don’t, effectively have one because they just threaten to not re-sign. It’s what Pesce and Necas/Ehlers did.

You can’t pay Eichel prices for a rental

Coaching is not the problem. Management needs to change. You could reanimate the corpse of Toe Blake and it wouldn't make a difference because this roster is fundamentally flawed.
I agree, the players are the problem but I would trust Castonguay to build the team the right way by listening to Gallant and Lindy. Gallant has always had a successful time implementing his system with all types of players. I think there is something with Appert, so maybe keep him on and let Gerard clean house. I dunno but this team isn't responding to Lindy, they can't make simple passes, they don't seem to care, they don't go into the hard areas. The Cali road trip seemed like a real turning point to where they played right most of the trip and then came back and were like, thank God that is over, back to shying away from contact, driving the net and making a simple pass

Not sure where you get that with Appert. He’s been a dud everywhere. Destroyed RPI hockey. Our PP is abysmal.

And then you remember Eichel cost a fake top 6 forward, a bust of a prospect, a first and a second.

Firing Adams and replacing him with Jason (aka: Hellboy) needs to happen because at least other people and execs around the league have respect for the guy.
Took me a sec to know who you meant but you were a Whalers fan so I got what you meant. Must irk you even more that KA played for the team that stole the Whalers.

Hiring him wouldn’t get my compass pointing north. Need to get a proven winner outside the organization and Pegulas need to let him do their job. Botterill was probably the closest but Pegula mingled in everything and he gets blame for that. He finally resigned after he got sick of it.

I know lots of folks like Thompson, but he’s the king of fumble f*cking the puck away by over handling it. Most of the team is that way but he’s bad. That 2v1 on OT and he does t come away with even a shot?
Absolutely agree with you 1000%.

Sabres cannot protect or play with a lead. They let the Wings carry the play in the 3rd and it cost them. Reimer had poor to non existent puck control, recovery and redirection tonight had to go Hasek so many times trying to play way above his level. Sooner or later it was going to burn the team.

The "gifted" power play at the end of the 3rd was a clown show with no shots, no ability to set up. All the Red Wings had to do was overload the Sabre having the puck and the play went south. The top guys are insufficiently ice aware to play a 3 on 3. They are NOT magicians with the puck. Larkin (?) chasing Byram all the way back into the Buffalo zone harassing him all the way during the 3 on 3 was almost comical. No one would even try that on Makar because they would be embarrassed.

Both Detroit OT goals walked Reimer scoring on the back hand as Reimer bit on the fake and was left stretched out stomach first on the ice.

Seriously disappointed in how this game ended and the Sabres play from the 3rd on. Too bad because there were some guys who really stepped up their play and especially their physicality. Greenway, Bennie, Johnson, Malynstein, Zucker. But the top elites didn't pull their weight again.

Keep the lunch pail guys and get rid of the so called elite fwds.

Get some veteran players in soon, out with the core, and let the vets show the next wave how to actually play to win in the NHL.
The core for me is Dahlin, Benson, and Thompson (and latter only because our center spine is so dire). Everyone else is available (Cozens and Peterka at the head of the line to relocate).

There’s been so much damage over the last 14 years but they need to ship out a lot of the youth and bring in veteran winners.
Not disagreeing with the strategy but what veteran winners would seriously want to come to Buffalo with it's history? I mean Erik Jhnson tried it and was happy to move on to Philly.

As long as Pegula owns this mess, we are ef'd.
