Ya let’s blow it up again I’m sure this time it’ll work and everybody else won’t go onto bigger and better things.
You’re totally f***ed either way at this point. But I agree that another rebuild is out of the question. There wouldn’t be a single fan left.

Adams locked the them into being a team that will never make the playoffs comfortably for the next decade whether you do a rebuild or not. They’re a 500 team for the long haul.

I bet they make the playoffs in 2029 with this core on a fluke, last a round, and then it’s off to the next rebuild in 2032.

Anyone who believed they were in a win now season was buying some bullshit. They have a lot of cap space sitting here again. Not a serious team. And the GM just told everyone he wasn’t going to alter his plans because they’re losing. Which means the plan was never about winning.
Well said, and I definitely agree. That’s why I put win now in quotes. lol. It was clear this wasn’t truly a win now season when they bought out skinner then didn’t use the cap space it created. The whole reason it made sense to buy him out this year was that $7M in cap space that came in 2024.

It’s about being “economic and efficient”, not winning. I do think Pegula wants to win, if only because the Sabres are an embarrassment to him. But he doesn’t want to win enough to let people with actual experience run the hockey ops without having to be so involved in everything, including scouting+free agent meetings.

Worst part is that even if Pegula is forced to fire Kevyn Adams, I have zero faith he will be replaced with anyone competent.

There is no realistic path to contending status with Cozens and Peterka in the top 6. They may eventually fluke into the playoffs, but they'll never be a threat. They also need to make a decision on Power/Byram. Such a baby shit soft group of players.

Feel bad for the guys showing up on this roster. Core and talent is there. Their GM has stood by and refused to insulate them. He continues to stand by.
I honestly don’t think he can insulate them - there aren’t many deals to be had out there, and he aint good enough to make them if there were.

But I think his overall plan is just extremely flawed. As Eliot Friedmann keeps noting, tearing it down and building your core solely through the draft has never really worked for anyone.

You could literally see the panic set in to the Sabres game in the third period, even before Detroit scored to make it a 1 goal game. Then after they scored it only got worse from there.

This team is so mentally soft and/or broken. They so desperately need a couple/few good, TALENTED veteran players that can help them on the ice. But alas, we don’t have palm trees so I guess that’s not a realistic ask…

Fire Kevyn.

Give me Lindy to President of Hockey ops

Give me Emilie Castonguay as GM

Give me Gallant and whoever he wants to bring with him
Coaching is not the problem. Management needs to change. You could reanimate the corpse of Toe Blake and it wouldn't make a difference because this roster is fundamentally flawed.

You got some quality young assets you can flip for pretty good vets without NTCs or NMCs. You just gotta give up this ridiculous notion that you will cultivate a core of youth that will gel into some kind of Cup winning dynasty. This plan has failed for 13 years through 3 GMs. Give it up already

Fire Kevyn, fans need to start throwing their jerseys on the ice. Palm tree blow ups. That bum should never be associated with our franchise ever again.
