Andrei! How come you never post on main boards anymore?

Have I ever lol, I mean outside of the occasional shot at Leafs and Bruins fans ?

I hope so because I think he's going to make the team. I was just bouncing ideas, it wasn't a serious thought.

He's a really smart player for his age and position, but Id be surprised (and worried) if he did. He needs more strength and while is good for is age and level, it needs some tweaks to get to a level where he'll be optimal. Still needs work offensively as well and his reads aren't quite NHL level either. Laval I would be ok with, but I think Europe for another year at least would be the best scenario for him.

If you're an Athletic subscriber, read Arpon's article today.

If not, read some of his Tweets. There was a lot of rage towards the kid on social media by crazy reactionists. He mentioned torches and pitchforks. Arpon also noted that this fan craziness was a factor in PLD deciding he'd rather play somewhere else.

Just curious...did you black out last night? You seem very calm this evening after being unhinged last night.
It's a good think PLD didn't signed here. The toxic anti-PLD would have been so intense it would sabotage the player and the team. By so-called Habs fans who just do that all the time, ah they say they vent. They vent and they vent. Oh yeah, cool ! Great! What's more? They vent and they vent. Okay I see ... They litterally sabotage the team. Bravo ! Bravo !

They don't say they need to see a psychiatrist, for a change, only once ?
Or get a life outside that board?
Twitter accounts were created for bulllying and it's tolerated and it's all right?

I'd rather Europe too but the Habs management seems to think players gaining NHL experience is better especially since the team is still a work in progress and they can manage expectations, I suspect they believe top picks will improve their IQ better and get familiar faster with the NHL. It's kind of like when I bought humankind and immediately played on the hardest difficulty because I knew the mechanics from civ, I got my butt kicked but I learned faster.

Kopitar went to #11 though as teams were worried about his skating and the level of competition in his league.

We did quite well at #5 in 2005. ;)
There was a load of junk between Crosby and Kopitar if we redraft today. Except Price, who I think is 3rd after Crosby 1rst and Kopitar 2nd. Quick was drafted second round that same year. LAK got Kopitar + Quick. One and Two !! Same year.

It's rushing players. I'm tired of youngs rushed into nhl like KK and Slaf. They get concussions to the head, they didn't learned progressivly the speed and the brutal of nhl.

Pretty pathetic that the kid has to go through this because of the nut fans

This is a big nothingburger and so-called journalists should be ashamed of spreading this perception without citing a single source. Fans are angry the city hasn’t had a 100pt player since Naslund almost 40 years ago. Full stop. Pretty normal reaction. Everything else is puffy access journalists filling the void with boilerplate commentary that fits a presumed narrative. Do some work. Interview some people. Haven’t seen one negative comment about Reinbacher or anything that rises to vitriol.

Not all smurfs are equal. CC is a pure goal scorer. His whole life people have said he’s too small and he’s consistently proved them wrong. I see zero reason why we would let size concerns get in the way of elite talent. Play the. In separate lines - problem solved - and teams would have a hard time defending two lines instead of one. Imagine two potential 50 goal scorers in the lineup…
Rebuild’s not done. They’ll get other pieces.

Just skimmed through this thread, but I think that media hype is to blame here. While Michkov has a ton of talent, he's not a guaranteed NHL star as some people on here seem to think. Even if Michkov didn't have a contract in Russia, he's not NHL ready as his game needs polishing. His skating needs work, he tends to disappear during long stretches, he needs to improve his work rate on the ice, and right now he plays too soft for the NHL. My projection for Michkov would be a smaller Patrik Laine. Rumor has he may have to follow on Kaprizov's footsteps and come over only when he's 24 years old.

Reinbacher is a complete player, he's above average in every aspect of the game. He reminds me of Jake Sanderson (whom I was a big fan of) with his great skating and complete game. He's very active on the ice, activating on offense, closing lanes on defense. His hockey sense is really good and he spot open lanes, get pucks to open teammates. He's the kind of dman that will play a lot of minutes, against the other team's best lines. Like Sanderson, he doesn't get the hype he deserves.

Considering wingers are easier to get (ie: Debrincat) than defensemen, I think fans getting angry about prospects they haven't watched play is part of the problem in building a strong playoff team.

Caufield is quicker on his feet and has a drive to improve and compete that is off the charts. Michkov's may be average.

Also interesting that no team has won the Stanley Cup in recent years with a 100+ point scorer. It's great to have one, but not a dealbreaker.

Vegas' top scorer had 66 points.

It's best to have a lot of very good players and everyone pulls his weight while competing to the max.

I saw that you posted a splashy picture of some Twitter rando saying he’s received 1000s of hate messages. Has Reinbacher or anyone in his entourage confirmed this? If so, I’ll retract. But sounds like BS.

Ah, no just a guy tweeting a picture of Reinbacher next to Hitler and saying he’s the worse person since Hitler. Very normal thing to tweet. Or people on twitter saying he sucks since yesterday?

Oh dear. Habs access fluffer non-journalists grandstanding now because the usual crazies and immature teenagers did their usual thing on social media

Why don’t we talk about Kent Hughes saying that Reinbacher’s ceiling is a D-2? How’re we suppose to absorb that bit of information in the context we find ourselves?

Is it acceptable to come out of two tank years with the 1OA and 5OA with players whose ceiling is 2LW and 2D?

Someone on Facebook made the comparison between David Reinbacher and Serge Savard!

One can dream. For the several matches I watched from the 1970's, I preferred Savard to both Robinson and Lapointe. I think he was the ultimate key on the defense.

Obviously I'm not seriously comparing them, but the picture hit my imagination.

That's Hughes' being transparent! Doesn't mean he can forecast the future. It looks like he's managing his own expectations.
seen like the new regime that’s exactly like the old regime: lower standards every year and manage expectations… and scold the fans for bristling at their galaxy brain moves.

I think the hockey clash that is coming is fans wanting the sport to become NBA style with personalities, donks contest, chains, clink clank, etc. And in extra some bullying social media pressure and fake gossips to stir the sauce. The sport that was a team sport will become a personality grotesque show. When I see a future nhler do 25 michigan goals in a row in a practice, that tells me what is coming.

Someone put a picture of Reinbacher next to Hitler saying he’s worse than Hitler and we’re supposed to take this as a reflection of our fan base and not some anonymous troll? Let me know when you see an actual person or fan or someone posting on a message board like this one where there is some accountability doing this. Have you seen anyone here posting anything resembling this?

Best thing I did in the last month was delete Twitter. It poisons the mind and distorts our perception of reality. It’s just 4chan now and people who can’t differentiate reality from a platform that allows any person anywhere to post anything that comes to mind is sadly part of the problem. Why not post about the thousands of posters here and also on that site who have calmly said they are disappointed in the pick because they wanted Michkov. We’re all supposed to come out with Pom poms and grin for the sake of not hurting his feelings? This is classic Habs cya putting blame on Twitter randos for making a foolish decision.

"I really cant care less off 1000s of people sending hate DMs to any player tbh. We're like 50 million habs fans accross the world, 10,000 is such a small number it really should not matter."..... hate is hate, no matter if it's one or 1000s. You just got triggered by my one comment, can you imagine 1000s ?

No you said im part of the problem without saying why, i said i din't agree with it. So how im i part of the problem exactly? My anger is targeted towards Molson.

No one is forcing a hockey player to have a presence in social media. It's not his fault obviously but as the Owner of the Habs you have to f***ing wake up at some point. The fans need something exciting to cheer for, thats why they're fans. What do you expect fans to do if they're not happy? shut up and continue buying merch?

If you're the king of a castle and you make your servants starve, they'll revolt, its inevitable. Its your job to make sure you keep everyone happy.

Yes, if you have 9 or 10 like suzuki you will
win more than one cup, BPA in this draft was
very likely Bedard. #2 BPA was likely Reinbacher.
Habs F'ed up badly by taking the 2nd best player
fifth.
