Lukas Dragicevic

75 pts in the WHL,
birthday 2005 april,
6'1" / 185 cm
194 lbs / 88 kg
Right Handed, D

Available in the second round

If we wanted a RD this bad why did we give away 31 and 37 for Newhook? And we could have traded down, acquire an extra pick for our 5th...

Leonard/ Dragicevic+ 2 Late 1st is light years better than Raheinbaker / Newhook

Hey man this is a real clown show.
Dragicevic has no idea what he does in his own zone, doesn't know what gap control is, can't gather any info in real time and is an awful skater.

His game projects very poorly at the next level.

I had michkov ranked 2 on my list. Why aren't other fanbases in the top 5 besides Chicago crucifying their management for passing on a superstar in the making for a possible top 30 player? And why wasn't michkov taken immediate after Habs picked? Does dude have an ego problem? Is his game not conducive to a team format? Is he unwavering in his devotion to develop in the correct way? Who knows. I still think he'll be a superstar but lets not fool ourselves to think he's the next Ovechkin. Dude is another panarin. And we instead decided to hopefully pick a pieterangelo. And we've all seen which is more important to a Stanley Cup contending team
Similarities between Michkov and Panarin:
Russian
Coming over in their early 20s

I didn't see him in NLA, besides some shift by shifts provided by Grant, but I do see the Josi comparison. In many sequences, he will go all in on offense, and then magically appear in position defensively. Just an explosive skater.

He tilts the ice for his team. He's a wet blanket on team's forechecks, breaks up their rushes, traps them in their own zone with well timed pinches, and creates rushes, odd man opportunities galore for his own.

Just this stuff alone will get him 30-40 points. I think he'll really take a step forward with his Ozone play this coming year.

Do you still believe Michkov is this generational talent?

He wouldn't drop behind another Russian player if he was this good!
Or you know he told the Yotes that he won't play for that embarrassment of a franchise. Anyways, let's see in 3 years what happens but for now I'm looking forward to seeing Reinbacher. I hope he ends up being a star for us and if he works out our defense goes from being a weakness to a strength.

Also hoping there's a mod warning on no Michkov talk in here because this thread is bound to be insufferable. The Slaf "he had 10 points" comments blasted on repeat a million times were bad enough.

And you think that's a real reason to change your fandom? Pathetic...

You cheer for the entity not for the players! Players get traded and rosters change all the time.

I'll cheer for who I want, the players or the entity.

I've cheered for this entity for almost 40 years and have VERY little return on investment.

I'm a bit confused.

Are you going to cheer for Philly while they're trash? Or just stop watching games at all until Michkov comes over.

He took over some games, in a strong men's league, at 18, in a subpar team that just got promoted into the NL.

There's absolutely nothing he does wrong on the ice. His gap control, info gathering, transition on both sides of the ice, physicality in winning 50-50s puck protection and closing spaces, his all-around passing game and his shot selection are all great tools he's got.

It's also funny how some are saying that he has no offense in his game when he was pretty much running Kloten's PP at the end of the season.

I also won't talk about the factual info/stats that paints him as having one of the best D-1 for an European dman since it was brought up endless times.

Anyway, no one cares about all that when feelings are hurt.
Finally ! Someone who actually watch him !

This pick is huge empty room with depression, not to downgrade him he seems fantastic overall but picking wise was poor.

Hopefully he becomes #1 #2

This video is basically saying that he's further along in his development than Seider was in his draft year, but that he has weaker tools and smaller size.
Habs are probably hoping he brings physicality, an elite defensive game, and making transitions more than anything. Hutson/Mailloux/Barron will be the PP guys while Guhle/Reinbacher/Xhekaj will be the pain in the ass for the other team.

They clearly felt he was the BPA though. And they picked him despite having Theo. I don’t see how anyone can dispute that.

They certainly weren’t drafting for need.

I think on the whole, superstars are what win you cups. Most teams have at least one on the roster. And the best goalie in the league usually will at least make a finals appearance no matter how bad his team is at some point in his career.

My guess is that the Canadiens don’t see Mich as the superstar every team wants. They may not believe in his ability to realize his awesome potential.

It’s going to be interesting to see if they turn out to be right.
See to me there's a contradiction there, because if you truly think Price as a prospect has that upside and projects into it, that makes you think you need someone like this. This makes you think he can be the BPA a lot earlier than those who don't share your opinion of the positional value he has. Fast forward to now, and the value goalies have has almost completely tanked. You barely see them as BPA anymore because the need to grab one quickly is not there, even with very good prospects.

Which is my whole point there. BPA cannot be measured without accounting for positional value, system, and the players' ability to fill the roles you want them in. With Michkov, I think there's an obvious argument for BPA, as his skills are too high to not be a need and immense value if they translate as well as they project. But, again, they came out and said they did not scout him properly. So to me, it's fairly easy to see why they didn't go there, especially when they had a really good shot at filling a massive need that has crippled the team for years now, by picking a prospect they knew everything about and liked a lot.

My issue here is just, if I go by how I see BPA, I can't understand why Reinbacher is such a mistake when most of the other options have plenty of question marks and generally less value in their roles.

So stoked we got our 1D for the next decade. Plus I love his name, sounds like Nolan flick title.

He had 75 pts as a 17 years old... let that sink in...

He's got plenty of time to learn D

The Arizona pick was definitely the most puzzling...

I'm not pissed but everyone knows I called this months ago. It was so obvious.

I just don't know how you don't trade down. Very happy with the prospect though.

I think they didn't trade down because Arizona was going to take reinbacher at 6 if he was available.

Arizona ended up taking another dman instead who was a bit off the radar. It seems to me they were committed to drafting a Dman.

Goaltending has leveled off a lot. But this would just make an elite goalie all the more valuable if you could find one.

He’s not a mistake. A good RD definitely provides an edge.

But Michkov could be an exceptional talent. A true superstar scorer. I don’t think RB has that ceiling. However, I do think RB is more likely to reach his full potential than MM is.

Man defense is the easiest thing to teach, the guy just scored 75 pts in the WHL
I'd be tempted to toss him back on the wing.

There's needing to learn defense and there's playing defense how Dragicevic does. I still have him ranked in the 30s for me, but it's hard to really explain just how defensively raw he is. I honestly think I'd just have him focus on playing wing, and let him run a powerplay as a QB if he makes it. He'd be a pretty unique player, I just don't see him ever becoming even serviceable defensively.

To put it into perspective, DeAngelo had less to work on and even he is possibly the worst defensive defenseman in the league.
