Pretty sure David will love the sightseeing of boulevard Saint—Martin. Kloten can take the back seat
When I lived on the island of Montreal we always mocked about the ugliness of Boul des Laurentides (Laval) and Boul Taschereau (South Shore). I think it's not that bad today, especially Boul Taschereau. We have to agree that this ugly typical North American boulevard is viewed as a pure beauty or/and a symbol of the opulence of North America for more than half of the planet.

The close the chapter of watching the Tier 2 Swiss League....GCK won't stand a chance. The other team is much better. But now....WE DON'T CARE!!!! lol
The sooner David can come here. But let's be patient and give him time to adapt to NA hockey. There is no miracles, he will make mistakes and learn at his pace. Let's take Slaf as an example.

Is the Swiss ice hockey league like FIFA with promotion and regulation in a tiered system?

What I heard is that teams can buy the possibility to upgrade leagues...or if not buy just let the league know that they want to? And from what we knew Olten and Visp were 2 of those teams. The other 2 teams don't seem to be interested or for whatever reason.

You maybe right but I am not sure Hughes is ready to move on.
He's not nor does he have any business doing so. Anyone who watched Justin Barron play tonight would not be throwing the towel in on him just yet.
He played a very coordinated game which was one of his major flaws IMO.
He kept his feet used his size, his awesome skating, and his reach to great effect.
For some reason I can easily see a confident Justin Barron moving the puck up the ice on our PP with that length and that speed.

A good and very detailed season summary for those of us who didn't watch him this year.

I found the bit about him struggling with man on man coverage kind of funny considering the complaints about MSL employing the same tactic.

Boul des Laurentides is way worse but Reinbacher won’t have time for sightseeing.

I can’t imagine Kloten has better facilities than Place Bell. The Stimo Arena (capacity 7624) where Reinbacher played his home games, was built in 1952 and was last renovated in 2008. And with the rotten season they’ve had, their attendance must not have been full houses.

So where it counts, Reinbacher will love the Rocket’s facilities, rabid fan base and mostly full capacity attendances.

Not quite.

In Swiss pro hockey, all teams need to apply for a license to play on a yearly basis. That's a system used in other sports as well and is designed to ensure all participants meet minimum league requirements. It's basically a quality test where you prove you're able to play and finish the season without causing trouble or bad headlines.

Now of course if you wanna play NL rather than just SL that of course means you have to meet different standards as well. That's especially the case in terms of stadium and financial requirements. So while all teams wanna get promoted, some teams, especially the ones from smaller markets, just don't have the arena or the wealth required to play at a higher level. There's also an additional rule preventing farm teams from being part of the same league as the parent club. GCK is part of the Lions organization so with the ZSC Lions in the NL, their farm, the GCK Lions, isn't eligible for promotion.

So because GCK is just a farm icing mostly prospects ~ 20yo or younger and Olten is a proper club with NL ambitions and a veteran roster that means Olten's loss was actually a huge upset and my guess is that people are gonna lose jobs until the summer.

still no official announcement?

Not yet. All we got was a tease by the Laval Rocket twitter:

Listening to the Basu/Godin podcast and they're saying that the Canadiens don't know when he will come over, it should be early in the week.

He will clearly get practice time before getting into the game. Laval plays tomorrow, but their next game is next Friday. So they have a week of practices. They have a 3-in-3 (2 x vs. Belleville and 1 x vs. Toronto). And they guessed that Reinbacher might not be in the line-up for all 3 games, but they think he will get in the line-up at some point next weekend.

The other thing they said is for people to temper expectations at the beginning.. Reinbacher will have to adjust to the smaller rink again, new environment, new system, new league.

There will always be some who will want a 30 min #1 defenseman right away but I do think reinbacher will benefit from being drafted the year after Slaf. Given what he has done this year, specially since Dec 16, most people will be more patient with reinbacher.
