Kid. Can. Play.

I didn't want to draft him, but not because I didn't like him lol
So it's cool to see all this stuff from him for the first time for me
You can see what organizations were raving about at the draft now, he was Def the #1 D there
I had to be talked off a ledge. Only on day one though.

Truth is, I hadn't seen him or Mich or any of the others play. So I couldn't really be strong one way or the other on any of these picks. I just really liked the idea of a great scorer on the team.

In any event, I suspect we took him as the 'safer' pick and his size was a big plus. Hopefully he anchors the blueline the way we all hope. If he and Hutson turn out the way we hope it's going to be a hell of a top four back there.

His shot is actually very good. Probably his best asset.
Pretty much what @montreal said below.

I seen him unleash a pretty good wrister. I wouldn’t say it’s better than his passing though. Stretch passes, cross ice, or small smart effective ones. They’re all really good. Just such a smart quick decision maker.

I’d say the shot is underrated but also under utilized. If it was his best trait we’d have a perennial Norris candidate on our hands. Jury’s out on that for me. But his game just projects so we’ll all around, that even if he’s not a 10-15+ goal guy, he’ll still be a stud. If his hands and shot come around he’ll be a premier D in the league. Mitchkov can do whatever he wants at that point.

Ok which one of you jabronis is this?

I like the fact he’s pushing the play and going deep in the zone. He did it once in a while last season, but generally stayed back. It should be a staple to his game.
He seems great at picking his spots, like Guhle. Hopefully he does it more often like you said.

He did it a lot more in the second half of the season. Even starting behind his own net for a end to end.

With his skating ability and athleticism, he will only get better at this. Just need to give time and reps to get that confidence high.

i dunno. the way he thinks defense... it takes years for top 4 d men in the NHL to just do half the things he's already doing

That’s why he was such a high pick. Most defensemen drafted high have high end tools, but lack the defensive acumen to be effective in the NHL.

His ability to adapt to a high level of play to make the right plays and limit mistakes is great.
