He played a much better game tonight. I'm looking forward to watching this kid grow. He's really smooth with his outlet passes & is a good skater. He played well defensively. He has a good all round game.

I also thought he played a pretty good all around game. I personally feel he needs to play out the season in the AHL, play important games in the playoffs, re-ignite some of the offence, work the rust away, and the fanbase might be surprised at next years camp.

I thought he looked excellent. Skated the puck up ice with confidence, he was deceptive and decisive with the puck on his stick and at the same time was killing plays without problem. Vry exciting to see him back without seemingly missing a beat.

I think he's gonna be a stud, nothing has changed in my mind. He's gonna be serving crow all over the internet in no time at all.

Love to hear this!!
A big smooth skating RD.........I think a lot of people have watched this kid, and feel the same way you do.
I have seen him play a few games, and boy he does look good at times.
Staying healthy will be the key here......no more bad luck with the injuries.

He took a bad penalty in that it was an obvious call, but he looked solid again, jumped up with the offense. A little late on some plays, but i genuinely expected him to look worse given the time off.

Hoping for another solid game tonight
Tonight might be a tougher task he didn't suffer the second game fall off we often see with returning players
once the adrenal rush has subsided. I'll be super impressed if he's even better this evening.

Out for tonight.

Probably a good decision not to overplay him at this point
If you want to play him less in terms of ice time, sure by all means go ahead and do that. But to allow him to miss the game when he already has missed 75% of the season is BS. What is this? Kindergarten?

The last thing we need is hockey to turn into the NBA.

I get what you’re saying, but he’s barely played in a year and this would be his 3rd game in 4 nights , it’s a lot.

Over taxing a player returning from injury is not WISE. :help:
He's got another four chances at 3 in 4 nights coming down the road.
Once he's acclimatized to the AHL schedule and if we continue to sit him go ahead and beef then.

There's no need to rush things or risk re-injury, if they think he needs to rest and not play 3 games in 4 days, I don't see the issue as it's better to be smart here. He has the chance to play in 24 games plus the playoffs are a lock, if he misses a game or two here or there, I don't see the issue. The main thing is getting him back into game shape, stay healthy and getting him some playoff experience in North America.

Because like the big team people have no patience .Tired of saying it but he is that RD that half this board wants to trade half the team for.Ya i would be cautious with him too.
Agreed. Barring any injury, I'm expecting this group to start the season in MTL next year.

Guhle
Hutson
Carrier
Xhekaj
Reinbacher
Struble(might be someone else as #7)

+ a top4 RD either by trade or UFA

Matheson traded either at the tdl or this summer.

Human beings aren't robots.

Good decision to ease him in. Don't mind him sitting this one.

His breakout skills are high end. One of the few Dmen in our system that knows how to defend.

Once again, if you want to ease him up put him on the 3rd pairing and decrease his ice time. I would understand that. But resting him is excessive. It's not a 3 in 3.
