i think he missed every shot he took lol

Did you forget the /s? We seriously need some people around here to touch some grass.

Dig out some snow, find some grass underneath it and then touch it.

This is a 19 year old getting back from knee surgery taking the ice for the first time since. Its not even a drill just a warm up but this dude walks in and let's everyone know he missed the net. What a dumb comment.

He is 20 for 2 more months, is the most productive player from his draft class, plays first line, and folks want to ace him. Amazing.

...

Reinbacher thread and all of that "stay on topic, you fool!" schtick, but look no further than John LeClair.

Good rangy forward that wasn't ready fast-enough for fans, got jettisoned too soon, and ended up a perennial all-star for years for Philadelphia.

We should really just let our players cook for a couple of years before we start yapping.

Like Dach last year , can’t see it happening . He’ll be back next year
Reinbacher's injury seems less severe than Dach. His convalescence was said shorter too. If he's skating at mid-January, then there's a good chance that he'll be back in March, if not April.

Hopefully, Rocket will make PO, so his season is extended for few more games.

Not sure if KH anticipated this, but of he pans out, he fits our needs to a tee. We need a big, two-way steady top 4 D to play with Hutson or Ghule.

We’re seeing now how vital of an asset his type of player is.
They pretty much said after the draft that he was picked in large parts because he was filling a specific need on the right side of the defense.

Trade him, there's too much risk and the reward is questionable

My reasons to trade him:

-Price screwed his name (1st reason)
-Fans wanted another player (2nd reason)
-Injuries
-Defenders are harder to develop
-He might not be ready for when the team is ready to compete, next year or even the next one
-We can use him in a package deal to get something good now that will help Hutson and the team immediately and for the following 3-4 years.

LOL

That trade still goes down as one of the very worst transactions in Habs history that and the Patrick Roy debacle. It's not like LeClair wasn't already doing it he was a playoff beast scoring huge goals in the SCF final. Moves like that guarantee you won't win again anytime soon.
Insufferable management group that became more important than the players on the ice.

Hopefully he gets in a game or two as 3rd pair RD before the end of the year.

If he plays, I'd move Carrier with Xhekaj and put Reinbacher with Guhle.

Not sure I like the Xhekaj / Reinbacher pairing at this stage. But yeah, it would be at the end of the year and we might be out of the race by then. Who knows.

Great to see him skating again!

I'm fairly confident he should be a good two way defenseman and potentially a good #4 if all goes well
I’d say that’s closer to his floor.

If all goes well he’s a top pairing guy all day.

If the knees are fine he’ll be a top 4 all day. The only clear weakness I saw was defending against the rush.

Imagine having a bigger Guhle on the right side for 10 years. That's what we will get as soon as next season with Reinbacher. Fits like a glove for what we will need to take another step.

Yes, I do have faith Reinbacher will be a very solid top 4D that is effective at both ends. My problem is when. My gut tells me he has modest improvements year/year for the next 3 years.

The best development we can do is heavy min's in Laval next year.

The Roy trade, the Leclair trade, the Chelios trade. Man we made some idiotic trades then. The Leclair trade may have been the best one lol. At least got the best return. Savard was washed more or less when we got him

I'm pretty sure his knee injury isn't as bas Dach's and we shouldn't overpass the fact he played two years as a pro in Europe.

Personally, I think he comes back before the end of the season with Laval, plays during the playoffs and definitely, definitely makes the Habs starting lineup next season. He is no Mailloux, he is no Engstrom. His defensive game was already good enough to not be a liability at NHL level, last year when he came to North-America after his season has ended in Europe.

Very possible. Won't agree too much against this possibility. I'm just playing the conservative card with this asset.

The only thing he really struggled with was how quickly the play transitions in NA. He got caught out letting players get behind him numerous times. The difference however was his ability to recover he was far in a way our best defender in Laval and this in the games that counted most.

Curious about when his Entry Level Contract expires. I'm under the assumption that he signed for three years:
2023-24 played 11 games in Laval
2024-25 let's assume he plays a few games towards the end of the season
Does that make him eligible to sign a new contract on July 1st for 2026-27 and beyond?

Puckpedia shows his current contract going until the end of 2026-27. I'm assuming that's accurate but I'm not sure why. Does the 11 games in Laval simply bump the contract 1 year because no games were in the NHL?

Hopefully, Laval goes on a long playoff run, and he manages to play 30-40 games (reg + playoffs), and he looks good enough so that we can pencil him to the NHL lineup for next season.

Hutson - Matheson
Guhle - Carrier
Xhekaj - Reinbacher
