Man, Calder thread is like 65% Habs fans circlejerking Hutson with 15% denigrating Celebrini and maybe 20% legitimate discussion. Might as well hand the Calder to Hutson. Apparently, it's not even close. I wonder if I actually miss the Celebrini vs. Michkov debates. am I crazy for that? At least the Michkov mafia was only 3-4 guys lol.

And the moment Hutson drops off for a bit, they will screech about the lack of respek we give him and their fabled franchise.

Come on now, don't be mad at them for winning 22 of their 24 Stanley Cups with fewer than 20 teams in the NHL. Including that magical period where they won 10 in 25 years when there were only 6 teams. I mean, that's a feat. Toronto also won 9 during the good ol' days (including their last one)!

A while ago there was a thread about the Rangers' "Regular Season Champions" banner and there was discussion also about the division champion banner. IIRC a Habs fan chirped about the division champion banner and someone replied that the Habs also have a bunch of six-team division championship banners, i.e. Stanley Cup banners of old. That cracked me up.

Hutson at +200
Michkov seemingly out at +1000

Celebrini still leading at -175.

Officially a 3 horse race. I believe the preseason fav Stankoven is now easily out at +7500

Stankoven and now michkov is why no fanbase should be getting to excited until the season is over in thse conversations about the rookie of the year. Stankoven had 14 points in the first like 15 games and then 4 points in the last 30. And eve michkov has like 3 points in gis last 12 games.

It's starting to look hilarious that Michkov and Bedard were hyped up as "generational" talents by the online prospect astrologers.

Crosby and McDavid were winning scoring titles and leading their teams to the playoffs at the same age. Generational my ass.

30 games ago, Celebrini was +800 and Michkov was like -400, and there are 30-40 games left, so I think there's still a ton of time for movement.

Michkov will have to play PPG+ here on out to get back into the race, which is unlikely, but Hutson hits 65-70 points and he'll make it a close race.

Saying that Bedard isn't generational or a center isn't exactly a hot take these days. He's still very good and will be a star scoring winger in the NHL, but he's not the generational player he was hyped up to be.

Not to toot my own horn, but I kinda felt this way even before he was drafted. He rarely impressed me in the CHL and while his scoring talent was elite, he just didn't do much off the puck. I was more upset to miss out on Carlsson than I was Bedard.

The verbiage may be a bit extreme and sensationalist but Hodge is absolutely correct that, at least Bedard, was called generational by many prospect people, and also correct that he’s not even remotely close to meeting that hype.
I think making any sort of assumptions about a 19 year old who's still pacing at a near PPG pace on a horrific Chicago team is just barking for the sake of barking.

Last I checked, Celebrini is pacing out at practically the same pace as Bedard last year.

Bedard is still a near PPG teenager. He might not be a generational 1C but he's tracking for a franchise level scorer.
Dude is playing with significantly less talent than what Celebrini has been. He's not centering the top line with Frank Nazar and Tyler Bertuzzi

Absolutely. But I think it's complete fair to call him a disappointment given that he was given the "generational" tag pre-draft. I think he'll he a Jack Hughes type of player. Franchise guy, tons of points, but not going to single-handedly drag his team to championships.

I don't know how literally you mean this, but no player single-handledly drags their team to championships in hockey. It's why McDavid is Cup-less (and he has Draisaitl).

Who’s making any assumptions? It’s a fact that Bedard has accomplished nowhere near what Crosby/McDavid had at this point in their careers.

This entire page is nothing but assumptions.

Everyone knows Crosby won his cups playing with absolute nobodies…. Aside from a future HOF goalie, HOF forward and HOF d-man.
