Why are we even putting him in that tier at this point?

Igor is better than 38 year old Henrik but 25 year old Igor vs. 25 year old Henrik I don’t think so. Igor’s the backup no question in that scenario.

the elite level players on this team are 1. Panarin and 2. Fox and the next cl
I do not think you can compare but I also think you're looking back with rose color glasses. They are both similar imo.

Lundqvist was replacing a lot of journeyman slop. Shesterkin is replacing a Rangers and Hockey Legend. Numbers are similar. Lundqvist really had insane seasons under Torts.

All people do around here is compare, wouldn’t you agree?

I’ve been a Rangers fan for 49 years. I have a lot to compare with and one thing that should be kept in mind is that the Rangers in Henrik’s rookie year were not considered mediocre—they were bottom of the barrel. Preseason predictions would have had us finishing last in the league. Lundqvist took the league by storm pretty much like Fox is doing now and we made the playoffs. He stole game after game or at least until the end of the year when he was playing with an injury. Yeah—there was Jagr but this current Rangers team was deeper than that one.

Going from Kevin Weekes, Mike Dunham and Blackburn to Lundqvist is different than going from Lundqvist to Shesterkin. It does not compare. That is what I meant.

Statistically they have been similar. With an edge to Shesterkin in his limited games. I'd like to see Shesterkin in a full regular season.

Where did Quinn hurt you? Show us on this doll.
Hey clap it up man, that was an awesome and admirable performance yet again by this team. Fantastic. I should be ecstatic with how they showed up.

The only thing more pathetic than this Coach and this team’s performance, are the fans that complacently pass it off as no big deal and are ok with missing the playoffs with a lame-duck response of ‘oh this was supposed to be a developmental year anyway’ — Loser mentality breeds Losing.

Hilarious, then I'll be called a goalie hater. Shesterkin had TWO bad games. But doesn't go with your narrative of Quinn being a mix of Jesus, Buddah, and Allah. Your act is tired just propose to the man and be done with it.
Having an overall good game statistically and allowing to WEAK goals to the Pens in the third period are two different things. Let's play the game that you ALWAYS run away from. What were Igor's stats when he effectively became the starter on game 9?

And really? Propose to him? Your wit is about as dull as your arguments. You are becoming more pathetic by the day.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH THE QUINN DEFENDERS BAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH

BAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

BAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

The effort tonight, getting stymied again in an almost identical way to the last game against the Islanders...this coach was taken to the woodshed by an experienced coach.

CMON QUINN APOLOGISTS COME OUT WHEREVER YOU ARE....LET ME HEAR BS EXCUSE #4573219 OF WHY THIS IS NOT ON QUINN
I am actually looking forward to you guys gnashing your teeth all summer long.

I’m going to say something that may be unpopular. Igor is an excellent young goalie but he’s not in Lundqvist territory at least yet and he might not get there. To me he’s closer right now to Mike Richter than Henrik.

on who should have played last night—despite their records against the Isles it should have been Igor so I don’t have a problem with that decision though I’d lean towards Alex for the next one.
Should not be unpopular. Henke was arguably a top 10 of all time. To expect Igor to reach that is tad unrealistic.

there is something to taking these last couple pandemic years and discarding them as soon as possible. For a team like the Rangers with so many developing players to not have training camp or preseason was another issue to overcome.

I hope so because I watch a team like Ottawa who you can see their young players coming together and getting better and better.
I hope we can rid ourselves of the excuses next year. This team as a whole can not regress again.

You don't even need to go back to Trottier, Lowe, and Muckler.

Vigneault got carried by a team full of savvy veterans that still had Torts' words rattling around in their heads, and a goalie that refused to let the team fail.

Again? When did the Rangers regress "as a whole" since the rebuild started?

Yeah the people who don’t have emotional outbursts where they project dramatic personality flaws on perfect strangers because of the outcome of a hockey game are pathetic

Not to mention that a "loser mentality" among the fans, even if it were true, has nothing to do with the team.

Ottawa is an interesting situation. The young players are learning their system, they are building chemistry and an identity and getting frontline experience since they don't have any expensive vets to hide behind.

The Rangers in contrast are taking a completely different approach. It sometimes feels as if kids like Chytil and Kakko are their own little bubble within the team. Kakko is playing brainy possession hockey while Zib plays happy-go-lucky improvisation hockey and Panarin does his thing.

I think this team is further away from being a serious contender than people would like to admit. It will take another 3-4 years before that happens. The magic will happen when the kids step up and take charge. The team will no doubt look different then.

Honestly, that timeline isn't really that far from what I expect. They'll make the playoffs next year, but won't be contenders until the year after. So, we're talking about 2 years from now... as opposed to your 3-4.

The weird thing with this whole debate is even the people who end up defending Quinn often have quite a few disagreements with him. It's just not as...over the top.

For example you don't see usernames like HireQuinnForever, or WeAlwaysGetAGoodCoach, or PleaseStaySmith.

For the people who focus on one thing, be it a player or a coach, it almost becomes obsessive and overly aggressive.

I don't understand going onto a thread and trying to ignite a fire. When the team goes 4-0 against the Devils or 7-3 in their previous 10 games, you're less likely to see someone go in there and post something "Where all Quinn haters now?" "Bwahahaha, Quinn haters got nothing to say after this game?" or shit like that.

But admittedly, I can not only predict when we're gonna see fires like this, but I can usually narrow it down to a small group of people who feel almost feel like they exist just for those moments. To the point where they almost don't comment on anything else, it's literally tied to one subject and one outcome.

I've heard people talking about how they feel like they're attacked for speaking out against Quinn. To be honest with you, I feel like it's been the opposite. That segment has tended to be much more aggressive and unyielding on their views. I don't see a "praise be to Quinn" post every two minutes. But I sure as hell see a lot "screw this guy" type posts...constantly.

I get it, people think they're being funny with "Quinnettes" or whatever name they and 7 other people find amusing. But you don't see people on the other side going "Ah, here come the Crazy 8s" or some other name that we all know is going to raise the issue quickly.

I think the people who love Quinn is a pretty small segment of the board. But we gotta get out of this fanatical mindset that if you're not losing your f***ing mind over every thing that you just don't care or that you're automatically fine with everything you're seeing. It's not that black or white, it's many shades of gray.
