I would put Perron with Stü and Giroux.

I think he needs a 2-3 games on a lower line, when comes back, then tried with Stu and G.

In some ways it is OK as Stu burns into the zone, pushes the D back and they can be trailers, but in general I think he needs faster players, not slower. At least 1 anyway.

Yep definitely a possibility , but it won’t surprise me if they try it.

Me neither. We need Perron to provide some scoring, and we know he can do it, so why not see if Stu can generate some opportunities for him.

The Stepan trade - in a vacuum - was ok, but paying a 2nd and retaining nothing was beyond stupid.

That isn't my concern. My concern is that Stü needs players to dish to. Gaudette has been pretty good, but he isn't defensive minded enough to be trusted on the top two lines for extended minutes. I think Perron could help in multiple facets. I am not saying he's a long term fix. I am simply saying, I'd put him with Stü when he returns. I'd also do it right away, so Perron can start scoring and get off the shneid.

My question to you is: When Zub returns do you put him with Sanderson or play him down the lineup? I don't think anyone plays Zub on a lower line. I don't think Perron should be shoved down to the fourth line either. We need to get him going and get the entire team clicking. I don't see Gaudette being a major factor in the playoffs. Perron on the other hand will play a lot of minutes if we make the playoffs.

I agree that a fast winger who can shoot and play with Stutzle is needed; I don't think Perron is that winger as he is too slow. Amadio is also slow.

Gaudette has proven to be a shooter in the AHL and done well so far in the nHL, so he can play there now and I hope he thrives at it.

Trading Jospeh and a 3rd round pick for "nothing" but open cap space has not been a very good decision.

Gaudette deserves it atm I think. Agree that Perron and Amadio aren't ideal, but both have scored close to or above a 20 goal pace the last few years, so not totally insane to try it. Joseph could get there quicker, but he doesn't score enough to be a top line player either. Only 2 goals, 4 points & -5 in 20 games so far. Pacing at only 11 per 82 the last 3 years. Either way, we'd have someone miscast on that line and I don't think the solution was or is in house atm.

I was surprised to see Cousins be adequate on the 3rd line but hey if it works keep it going. I do think Perron would push him down to the 4th just to get him going but no harm in having Perron ease his way back starting on the 4th. He can't be worse than Greig at this point but also wouldn't be opposed to seeing Amadio pushed out of the top 9.

Green has been praising that 3rd line the past few games. They get a lot of minutes, spend most of their time in the O zone, have some of the more difficult match-ups and are relied on during key moments in the game (end of period, end of game). I don't see Green changing anyone on that line unless they start to falter.

I agree. I think it'll be a toss-up between Gaudette and Ostapchuk going down to the minors once Perron returns.

As for the Zub question: I think you put him with Sandy but give them 2nd pairing minutes 5v5. Give the 1st pairing 5v5 minutes to Chabot/Jensen. Sandy will still get his ice-time because he's on PP1 and PK. They could wait to put Zub on PK until he gets his legs/timing back. PK's been solid lately so no rush to put him there. The downside is that JBD will be the odd man out as it's obvious Hamonic is the D that Green trusts more.

I see what you mean, and I hadn't thought of the 3rd line being so effective, it shouldn't be broken up.

He isn't a 4th liner, so I guess with Stu he goes, and Hockey Gaud has to take the hit and move down.

No, Zub would be right back in the mix BUT I actually wouldn't mind seeing if JBD could play with Sanderson and then Zub with Kleven to even things out a bit. Zub would go heavy on the PK minutes, too.

Aside from the 3rd it's been a wash. Joseph has 4 points this year. I don't get the obsession with this guy. He is 27, his career best is 35 point and 5/8 season he scored less than 20 points. Perron has never scored less than 20 except a season where he played 10 games.

Even if comes back with 35 games to go and scores a few big goals or plays up in the lineup, it's still more than Joseph. Joseph also being the same guy who sat a game against his own brother due to "discipline issues."

Not since Brandon Bochenski, Ryan Shannon, Peter Regin and Bobby Butler have I seen Sens fans rate a player completely on hypothetical rather than actual production.

He is not a loss to this team, and whatever he provided has been replaced by Cousins/Gaudette off the waiver wire for #1M a Pop.

Get him on LTIR for the rest of the season and re-evaluate in the summer. Let him spend time with his family while we use the cap space for a RD or scoring winger.

LTIR is the only way to go. Save the cap space and acquire someone who can actually help the team make the playoffs.
