That kulikov hit was worse

The only reason Pastrnak was hammered here was because this game happened in NY on national broadcast

If you want to start nailing people then at least be consistent. The NHL really doesn't look at every angle when making PR decisions

Truly unbelievable decision, even by the standard of the asshats at DOPS. They have let more egregious hits go by unpunished already this season, including a clear slew foot. The Pastrnak hit was a good clean hockey hit, period. I hate hits targeting the head and wish the league would actually punish them more severely. But the hit by Pasta by any definition is not deserving of two games, especially considering he is a very clean player without a laundry list history. The NHL is already becoming borderline unwatchable much of the time, and bullcrap like this decision makes it more of a circus. The terrible inconsistency of the in-game reffing is a tiny bit understandable (they are still horrible at what they do), but when the DOPS has all the time in the world and multiple angles of replay there is zero excuse to be as inconsistent and awful as the NHL currently stands. What total ****ing joke!

“The one thing I can honestly tell you is that concussions are a serious thing. And the league is taking a serious look at that. They're very sensitive to that and they're very cautious. And not only do I respect it, I support that. I'm one of those coaches who will do that,†said Julien.

“Having said that, I'm not quite sure -- and maybe I'm biased because it's my player -– when I look at it in slow motion, one skate doesn't come off the ice till after the hit. His shoulder goes into his chest and goes up into his chin. They want to call it a head shot. I just don't know that he really could have avoided it. So I'm having a tough time agreeing totally with those guys, but again that doesn't stop me from respecting what they're trying to do.â€

The Kulikov hit was worse, imo, because it was late. The puck was gone.

The Pasta call is tough because it looks like there was head contact, but the side view makes it look like he was trying to target the chest. I think the intention was clearly a good, solid, legal hit to the chest.

The positive out of this is that Pasta is making that hit to begin with. He's feeling his oats and growing stronger. Not afraid of physical play. I like it.

For the record, I have gotten infractions for giving chastising the Bruins fanbase for being biased on certain plays. In general, I come here looking for objective talk whether we're talking about the Bruins or Habs. The emotional, blind loyalty does nothing for me when I'm trying to talk about the sport.

So, while I am indeed a nobody, please keep in mind that someone like me has no clue as to how in the world David Pastrnak is suspended here. There are plenty of Habs fans and Rangers fans who are asking the same questions people here are asking. I totally agree with you that a large portion of this fanbase (and pretty much every fanbase in sports) has a strong bias, but questions are rightly deserved in this situation.

Good for you for riding the high horse (I have plenty of experience there ), but people have brought up some perfectly legitimate points here and it's getting old you're trying to drown it out with the "you're just all biased Bruins fans" mantra.

Fair enough.

All I'll say is that hitting a player, who is vulnerable, with a head shot is a suspendable offense in the 2016 NHL.

If the hit was worthy of a suspension, people on here would say that. We're all obviously fans of the team, but we aren't stupid blind homers. If a player on the team does something that's worthy of discipline and it happens, generally people on here would agree with it.

It doesn't matter what Eddie O thinks, he's shown time and time again he's a moron. I'd put more stock into what Kieth Jones said in the intermission, stating that he had no problem with it being a penalty, but to essentially leave it at that.

Sorry, but I don't buy your "involved with NHL hockey for a living" line. Does that mean that everything they say is to be regarded as gospel? That's a load of crap and you know it.

So Eddie O, former player, is a moron. But Keith Jones, former player, you put more stock in because.....he's taking your side? See where I may get a sense of bias?

No, never said that nor meant that.

So simply being a former player gives you a set hockey analyst IQ? All of them are equal? Fact: Eddie O is a moron, not just about this incident. There's no inherent bias in knowing that guy is not the sharpest skate in the locker room.

It wasn't late. The Philly announcers are out of their minds to claim so. It takes, what, 0.8 seconds for it to be classified interference? That was .3 seconds in slow-mo. So what, .15 seconds in real time?

I'm pretty sure it was Eddie O who on live TV, loudly proclaimed that he could see Bergeron punch the puck " RIGHT THERE " as they replayed the SH goal against Vancouver that ended up being the series winner. On top of that gem, he routinely says dumb things that just aren't true. He definitely is a moron.

On pace for 62 goals :naughty:

In a large amount of suck from the forwards. Pastrnak has been excellent. 5M x 8.

Been a while since I have posted but I need to get this one off my chest. How in the hell did Pasta's hit get two games but Kadri gets none? What is happening in this league? I have no idea whats what anymore and I feel same can be said for the ones making these decisions.

The league has been like this for years.

They take a coin and flip it, heads is nothing and tails is 2 games.

It's unbelievable the wheel of justice logic...here you have Kadri with a headshot (IMO) and a repeat offender who gets nothing and you have Pasta with no previous violations ;who hit Girardi in the chest and he gets 2 games...

Paille got 4 games for exactly the same hit and Kadri gets nothing...ridiculous

Even if you said Pasta hit the head, which I'd say it was head and chest at the same time, at least Pasta's hit was straight on. Kadri's was clearly blindside.
