Really? I think Krejci’s playmaking style is close to Datsyuk’s. His matrix moves remind me of Datsyuk. Obviously not as good, but I can’t think of another NHL star that plays a game similar to Krejci. And Krejci is also a great two way player.

I think of krejci as more of a backstrom type player than a Datsyuk. Datsyuks hands and defense were on a different level

5 seasons of Pederson with two elite seasons. He is another guy who certainly had more talent than Krejci, but injuries derailed that. Again, if we are talking talent, Krejci is far down the list of all time greats here. However, you have to give some weight to longevity and how long he has been with the organization. He's in his 13th season with the club and has been top six centre for 12 years. Yes, he has his problems and he certainly wasn't as talented as some other centres he played with (Bergeron, Savard), but at the same time he has been pretty consistent at a high level for the Bruins during that time. It has to count for something in my opinion.
Top 5, i dunno. Top 10 yes. We had some great Centers over the years. Impact players. McNab was also awesome. Linseman, too.

I'd have a hard time putting him in my top 15 because I can think of 14 off the top of my head right now.

In no particular order..
Orr, Shore, Bourque, Esposito, Schmidt, Brimsek, Cowley, Chara, Bergeron, Clapper, Thompson, Bucyk, Neely, Middleton

I know there might be someone I forgot, but I think these guys are clearly better than Krejci.

Also, there are other issues as pointed out about how to weigh players who had better peaks but perhaps had a shorter time with the club. I will give weight to time served, but others will focus on peak. Also, players who played elsewhere for a long time like Oates, Park, Pederson, belong on the list and I am not sure where.

Current Bruins like Rask and Marchand could claim to be better and Pastrnak in the not too distant future.

Tim Thomas

You're changing the parameters I used in my point, but have at it.

How about Krejci? He now has 13 points in 15 games and is a vital part of this team. I loved his assist on Pastrnak’s first goal, I wish those two played together more often. It’s just a minor upgrade from Brett Ritchie.

He's been excellent defensively too, and has the highest sv pct on the team among forwards (just passed Heinen).

He's also been very strong at even strength, and has the best PDO* on the team. *PDO is even strength sv pct when he's on the ice PLUS even strength shooting pct (of all players) when he's on the ice.

He still has a lot left in the tank, playing some of the best hockey of his career in the last two years. I’m hoping they can extend him.

Oh, not me. I love what he's doing and am grateful for getting to watch him. He's one of the smartest, craftiest players I've ever seen, but everyone has an expiration date and he'll be 35 when he signs his next contract.

As much as I hate to say it, I would try to move him this summer. Give him one more kick at the can with this group this year, and then cash out while we're ahead.

I would keep him next year regardless. If Studnicka is ready to play in the top 6 after next year then it would make sense to let Krejci go. I think he’d sign short term deals to stay on the Bruins.

Krejci is going to keep playing as long as he wants to. He is still good enough to earn that.

I think the fact he does not have a RW to complete the line and his style just seems to make some Bruins fans think he does nothing.

He is subtle, watch him play one game. JUST him.
Look at his decision making and offense creation.

I get the feeling he calls it a career after this contract expires. If not, I dont think he'll have trouble finding a 2 year deal. His style of game likely won't deteriorate as much as others his age.

I agree, the drop off shouldn't be too bad as he does not rely on speed/strength to play his game. He's one of the smartest players I've ever seen, just a wizard with the puck. Yet he's flown under the radar his entire career.

I would love to see Krejci stay on the top line and see if Bergeron can find chemistry with Debrusk or Heinen.
I can't see Krejci getting both Marchand and Pastrnak once Bergeron is back in the lineup, but I would not mind seeing Pastrnak on Krejci's wing.

Yeah, now is a good time to experiment with that. Early enough in the season, and a good place in the standings.

You just hope they'd get 5-10 games together, minimum.

Kills me that he's constantly being asked to play without a real RW'er. He had 73 points last, year imagine what he could have done with a two good wings.

Also, think about how much of a team-first guy he is to accept his role. When Marchand scored at the end of the 2nd, I was wondering if it bothered Krejci that he's not part of the last minute 5on5 offense. I mean it must, he's always been a big game player, but you never hear a word of complaint. So it was really great to see him go out as the extra attacker in the 6on5 and then pot not one but two goals at the end of regulation.

this doesn't get appreciated enough. This guy could be getting 20+ mins, first line/first PP unit duty on quite a few teams in the NHL, but he just quietly does his job in Bergy's shadow. I realize he gets paid substantially for it, but he could get that money elsewhere. The dude just wants to win.

he’s been a team guy since day 1. Look at his “kessel contract.” Wasn’t he making something like 3.5 for 3 years and then Phil went to Toronto? Reporters asked DK about it and all he would say was that he loves Boston and 3.5 million is a lot of money.

Eriksson gets 30 goals and they let him walk,I believe his career would have had a different trajectory had they kept him with Krejci further. Krejci will retire before he gets 2 wingers for a year.
