How is he defensively? Ducks need RHS for everything, almost everyone of the young high upside guys are LH. But Anaheim also doesn't really need offensive guys (except a big point shot)... they've got puck movers to spare.

The Jackets are in the same position as the Ducks with more LD than RD, they have no reason to trade Jiricek.

As a Habs fan i offer Mailloux and Calgary's 1st.

There's always a parade of Habs fans who think they can move secondary quantity for high end prospects and players. It never ends.

Makes sense, but with the Ducks it's not just D... they have Luneau, Terry, and Sennecke as RHS. Basically every other top 6 F/ top 4 D are LHS.

The Jackets have Marchenko and Severson as RHS. And Brindley on the way at wing. Other than that every long term piece is LHS. So we'd be in a comparable/worse position if we gave up Jiricek.

Ftr... My oilers would also like provorov at the TDL. We will have accrued a lot of space and he can play with nurse on pair 2.

Oilers "insider" (cough, corpo mouthpiece) Bob Stauffer is now not so subtly hinting Stan Bowman is looking at Provorov and mentioned a timeline of two weeks, which lines up with U.S. Thanksgiving and the traditional make-or-break time for teams to be in playoff position.

I think that timeline makes double sense if Columbus wants to give Jiricek reps sooner than later so he doesn't get more frustrated and formally demand a trade. Plus, Provorov isn't playing great and you have to worry his value will drop even more if that keeps up.

I don't love Provorov for the Oilers, I think it's the wrong kind of player to go after and the wrong contract to bring in, but Bowman pretty much has to do something. If he can take advantage of the Jackets being in this awkward spot and give up less than at the deadline, let's do it I guess.

I'm a Provo fan. I agree he hasn't been the best lately. I certainly wouldn't want him to be my number 1 D that I build a team around. But as a 3/4 I think he'd be great and is UFA at end of season. I think he'd step into Edmonton and see some opportunity and step up. Plus it's his UFA year. He'd be replacing an Emberson or Stecher.. so he'd be an upgrade for sure.

It would help my Oilers and Jiricek so I'm all for it.

I will say that Jiricek does need to do more though.

FTR... my ideal 2RD is Gudas or Larsson. Neither will come to Edmonton though. But that's the kind of guy I want with Nurse.

I do think

Ek Bouch
Nurse Provo

Would look damn good

Bowman needs a signature trade to make his mark.. so far, his tenure has been shit.

That's funny because on the Jackets board we think Provorov is playing well and we are debating whether we should extend him with a big contract. He also played like 29 minutes on Tuesday.

Somehow Stauffer didn't get the performance memo. To be fair, Provorov did look checked out for the last half of last season and also looked checked out for the last couple years in Philadelphia. Not a problem for the Jackets in this moment but he is a moody guy that doesn't take well to losing hockey.

We tend to not think Jiricek is ready to play the kind of minutes Provorov is playing. So a trade this early in the year would hurt.

Seems that LHS is harder to get now. It feels like it was like that for D through the 2000's but it was harder to get LHS forwards... at least when the Ducks were good. Now it just feels like most of the top players are lefty
