No shit shirlock u play to win. But you also used a top 10 picks on the guy not long ago. Youd think atleast having him play big minutes in the AHL would be better than sitting a guy you presume is a big part of your future

Development comes from a lot of things besides game time. His biggest issues are in strength and skating so I imagine the gym time and skating training is the focus right now.

Just because he's not in a game doesn't mean he's not improving.

Well, talk to him about that. He and essentially a handful of fans are the only people who thinks he deserves to be in the NHL.

I assume he enjoys the NHL paycheck, not sure if he gets the same amount while playing in the AHL after signing his ELC.

Bottom line, IMO, I personally don’t care about Jiricek if the team is winning games.

Clearly you don't follow the CBJ and only see Jiricek sitting in the press box at the NHL level. Very difficult situation for the team given the way he was handled LAST year under Jarmo. I believe there is concern a trip back to the AHL will open a trip out of North America and a push for Jiricek to go back to Europe, which is not what the team wants. Tough spot for the player and the team based on prior handling. Not to mention he still needs a lot of work on his skating.

And you are correct... You play to win and right now that does not include Jiricek.

I thought it was interesting that Haviland said that they're not worried about David losing his offensive creativity. They're going to focus on the other things because they're confident the offense will still be there at some point later on.

The one thing I'd prefer about the AHL assignment, relative to having David train with the Jackets and play some NHL games, is that he gets to play PP and be the guy offensively. Haviland's point runs somewhat against my priors, but I respect his voice a lot and I'll give this plan a shot.

I've never really been impressed with Jiricek and never loved the pick. He's not playing and can't beat out Jack Johnson or Harris. That's pretty concerning.

I wonder what the plan is with him and at what point he asks for a change of scenery, even if he has zero leverage to do so.

Potential return ideas?

Jiricek + for Rasmus Andersson? Then give him the Brink's truck to be Werenski's partner or flip him at the 2026 deadline if he doesn't want to sign

no way the flames trade rasmus even for Jiricek +

the plus would have to be pretty substantial from us imo.

What about for Ryan Pulock? I haven't followed his game too closely lately but he is a RD on a reasonable deal

I don't know from watching personally but I've heard more complaints about his contract lately. He's signed through age 35 so there is some risk there.

Isles fans have also discussed moving his old D partner Pelech, who I would have thought was untouchable.

I think the notion of trading a 21 year old defenseman for not playing well is ridiculous. Especially for guys who are nearly/are 30+ years old. This team isn’t good enough to make aggressive deals like that.

Continue to be patient with Jiricek unless he/his camp continue kicking and screaming behind closed doors. And if they are, you’re looking for a top prospect swap.

eh, even for a top prospect swap I'd still go back to your 1st sentence. Unless he and his agent look to force something it's all ridiculous. We need the player Jiricek has the potential to become more than the player we would get for him in a trade

Jiriceks performance was disappointing again. Im baffled why he wouldnt opt for 25 mins of playing time in the AHL to refine his skills. Playing only 9 mins a night and struggling significantly doesn't seem like a productive development path.

It's possible that the team has a program in place for him, as he hasn't improved in the AHL as much as they expected. Especially when it comes to skating and strength training.
