Few thoughts

1. Until Svozil gets the call, I can now stop following Columbus.lol
2. I think Columbus lost this trade big time and will regret this one
3. I don't like the destination for Jiricek - he'll be in the AHL with Spacek IMO. He may also block Spacek (unless he's a LHD) and I don't want that
4. Minny has an awesome team and Guerin is a very good GM - I'm at least happy he's joining a very good franchise with a nice future
5. Don't forget to look back and look how many trade proposals were better than this that the CBJ fans shit all over... this was low, very low.
6. I feel for Columbus. I really do.
we only shit on them because we had higher expectations for his value. I think we both may be wrong in the end. But I do hope for the best.

Like making change for a dollar, who knows where these picks end up. I think most CBJ fans feel pretty run over this year. And the changes keep on coming. Looking less like a Jarmo team and more a Waddell team. Good news for CBJ though, the team is looking better than it has in years and Jiricek wasnt part of that, so his departure has little to no consequences on the team.

Almost every team in the league could've offered more for a 6OA, young RHD, no? Did Columbus get fleeced or is this indicative of how teams view his game?
I personally think this return reflects how NHL GMs view his potential. By all means, a 21 year old 6'4" RHD with draft pedigree should have returned a bounty. That he didn't means that teams don't think he's very good.

Man, regardless of how Jiricek develops that's just a brutal return on investment for a 6th oa
from Pre Jiricek, the 6th OA have been:
Edvinsson
Drysdale
Seider
Zadina
Glass
Tkachuk (more Van taking Juolevi at 5)
Zacha
Virtanen
Monahan
Lindholm
Zib
Connelly

About half of the prior 13 picks didn’t amount to their draft position.

Pretty good return but Minnesota did a good job pushing back the year of the later picks. If I was Columbus I would have pushed harder to not have to wait until 2027 for half the return.

Look up Cam Barker and Oli Juiolevi. Both higher picks than Juricek. Scouts make mistakes on 18 year olds. But when guys get into their early 20’s the read on them (usually) becomes more clear. This could be a steal, like Sergachev was by Tampa, but more likely clubs know what the player is and will be.

A late 1 in a crap draft that everyone knows is crap and the other picks are in 2027. It's nothing. Not a single one of those assets will amount to a single damn thing for the Jackets.
Then as outside fans we have to wonder what the deal is between the jackets and Jiricek. Despite the comments from both sides clearly something is up to move him as quickly as the jackets did.

They wanted to move on from him. If they felt this was the best offer then what did other clubs offer? Probably not as much as this board thinks as 6OA doesn’t mean anything to other teams. It’s now about how they project him to be in the nhl based on what they’ve seen so far as a North American pro.

I think the price on guys with suspect skating is much lower these days, especially if they can't crack the lineup consistently.

Wouldn't surprise me if Jriicek ends up being the d-man equivalent of Holtz. Coveted skillset but the brain and the legs aren't there.

Yikes. Jiricek may or may not ultimately "make it" as anything substantial, but turning a recent Top-10 pick into...a mid-1st round pick, meh prospect, and a 2nd years from now is just a catastrophic outcome. If you're going to turn an organization around, you've gotta hit on those kind of picks, or at least get big "value" for them somehow else. This isn't that.

Just a disastrous result for Columbus, just in terms of the process...even if Jiricek doesn't pan out.

Allan Walsh lol. That's the issue...for some reason he does his best to get his clients away from Columbus...he and Brisson

You and everyone else trying to paint CBJ fans as idiots is genuinely pathetic.

People acting like Jiricek is busting are also genuinely pathetic.

People acting like the national guys have a better idea of what’s going on than Portzline.. you guessed it, also genuinely pathetic.

Why hasn’t the imminent trade happened yet? Perhaps that it’s because the Jackets would prefer not to move him, but they are open to it if they find the right deal. Not rocket science.
So about this...

I think it played out similarly to Laine in a sense that I'm not sure Waddell wanted anything to do with them as players anyways.

Jiricek 100% doesn't fit with the type of player he's been drafting.

if its any consolation I was pretty excited about seeing what Hunt could do with a legitimately good look in the NHL. I would have been happy enough keeping him, too.

Pretty underwhelming return. Are we to assume that no other GM was willing to beat that price or was CBJ really that high on Hunt?
